Islamabad: First Lady, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, visited the Headquarters of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Islamabad, inaugurating the Begum Nusrat Bhutto Library and viewing an exhibition titled "Humanitarian Journey of PRCS".
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, upon her arrival at the PRCS Headquarters, the First Lady was received by Chairperson PRCS, Mrs. Farzhana Naek, and senior officials. She was briefed on the historical role and relief efforts undertaken by the society since its establishment in 1947, highlighting its nationwide volunteer network and youth engagement initiatives.
Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari officially opened the Begum Nusrat Bhutto Library and toured the exhibition showcasing significant disaster response operations and longstanding humanitarian initiatives linked with the Bhutto family.
The First Lady also unveiled a commemorative plaque for the library and met with Mrs. Naek. They discussed the benefits the library would provide to students from various educational institutions and the establishment of youth clubs and mentorship programs by PRCS for young volunteers.
During her address, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari expressed her support for PRCS's humanitarian mission and its importance in serving vulnerable communities. She recorded her remarks in the Visitors' Book, emphasizing her commitment to continuing the legacy of humanitarian service associated with her family.
Mrs. Farzhana Naek noted that the library's inauguration honors the legacy of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, highlighting its role as a learning and research platform for youth and volunteers. She thanked President Asif Ali Zardari for his support of the society's mission.
The First Lady also engaged with PRCS volunteer children, acknowledging their dedication to community service. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives from international Red Cross and Red Crescent organizations present in Pakistan.
