Karachi, In a heartfelt appeal to the Muslim community worldwide, Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui, the leader of the Aafia Movement and a renowned neurophysician, has requested that special prayers be offered for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and the people of Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan. She emphasized the significance of remembering them in Taraweeh and all Ramadan prayers, noting the particularly challenging conditions faced by Palestinians in Gaza.
According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Siddiqui has expressed optimism about the potential release of her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, by the end of the year, contingent on receiving the necessary support from the Pakistani government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Clive Smith, Dr. Aafia’s lawyer, shares this hopeful outlook, suggesting that concerted efforts and governmental assistance could lead to her return home.
The statement also revealed that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s son, Dr. Ahmed, will be leading Taraweeh prayers at home again this year. Dr. Fawzia Siddiqui has extended her appeal to Imams and the nation at large, urging them to pray for the freedom of Muslims in Gaza and Kashmir, as well as for peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the Islamic world and Pakistan, along with the release of Dr. Aafia.
This call to prayer underscores the ongoing struggles faced by Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist whose case has garnered international attention, and the plight of the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip. It reflects the broader concerns of the Muslim community during a time of reflection, devotion, and community in Ramadan.
