Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui Demands Equal Respect and Protection for Women Politicians

Karachi, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, the leader of the Global Aafia Movement and a prominent neurophysician, has called for equal respect and protection for women leaders and workers across all political parties in Pakistan. In a strong condemnation of the recent act of bidding for a female member in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr. Siddiqui emphasized that such actions are a violation of the principles upon which Pakistan was founded by Quaid-e-Azam. She stressed that women are not commodities for sale or bidding and highlighted the enduring impact of the abduction and alleged sale of her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, 21 years ago.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Siddiqui criticized the mistreatment of women in politics, stating that the nation continues to suffer from the consequences of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s abduction and sale. She reminded the public of the significant role that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have played in advocating for Dr. Aafia’s release from American imprisonment and return to Pakistan. Dr. Siddiqui asserted that the treatment of any daughter of the nation in such a manner is unacceptable and goes against Pakhtun traditions, Pakistani culture, and the teachings of all religions, which command respect for women.

The call for change comes amid a backdrop of ongoing struggles for women’s rights and safety in Pakistan, underlining the need for political and social reforms to ensure the dignity and protection of women in all spheres of life.
