College of Dentistry holds series of workshops on “Moral Development in Dental Professionals”

Lahore, February 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Moral development is a growth of the character and like all growths, it takes place according to a pre-determined sequence. It is an aspect of a person’s overall development that follows over the course of a life time. Morals are attitudes and behaviours that are generally prized by a society in which one lives; it is the understanding and beliefs about right and wrong.

The Department of Preventive and Dental Public Health at the University College of Dentistry, UOL, recently organized a series of workshops on “Moral development among young dental professionals”.

The initial presentations were given by Dr. Ahmed Bilal (Demonstrator, Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry) and Dr. Naiha Muzammil (Demonstrator, Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry) who enlightened the house officers with principles of morality and basic understanding of moral values among dental professionals.

The idea behind conducting the workshop was to identify the perceptions of ethics attitudes, morals and behaviours among dental graduates. Her talk concentrated on the importance of ethics and its dire need in being health professionals.

“Moral development is an appreciation of each individual’s particular characteristics and behaviour and must be introduced into the ethical aspect of professional training”. “This provides autonomous thought that contributes to professional performance consistent with the development of a democratic and pluralistic society”, she further added.
