First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship

Lahore, August 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said the upcoming First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship will provide a suitable platform to promising female hockey players of the country to demonstrate their talent; he said this while presiding over an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

The meeting was convened to review the preparations of upcoming First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship scheduled to be staged at National Hockey Stadium from September 7-12, 2021. Director Admin Javed Chohan, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Rauf Bajwa and Deputy Director Chand Perveen attended the important meeting.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh also visited National Hockey Stadium to assess the arrangements of grand 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship. He directed the concerned officials to upgrade and renovate the existing facilities at National Hockey Stadium prior to the important championship.

While addressing the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh informed that the trials for the selection of Punjab teams will be held on August 29 and 30 while the trials of other participating teams will be held on August 27 whereas the camp training of selected players will start from August 31, 2021.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh further said that Sports Board Punjab will hold memorable opening and closing ceremonies for the mega women hockey tournament. It is pertinent to mention here that as many as 12 under-25 teams will participate in the tournament being organized as part of 2023 Oman Women Hockey World Cup preparations. Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will field two teams each in the tournament while Balochistan, Islamabad, Army, HEC, WAPDA and Railways will send one team each for the grand hockey tournament.

Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab and Lahore College for Women University sign MoU 

Lahore, August 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab and Lahore College for Women University signed an MoU for the promotion of sports on Thursday. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani and Vice-Chancellor Lahore College for Women University Bushra Mirza signed the MoU documents. Additional Secretary Sports Maria Tariq and Deputy Secretary Admin Ashraf Gujjar were also present on this occasion.

Talking on this occasion, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani urged the youth to take part in maximum sports activities. “We can build a healthy society by promoting sports culture among the young generation. Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab is providing modern sports facilities to female players belonging to all sports disciplines”.

Lahore College for Women University also organized an exhibition cricket match in connection with Independence Day celebrations. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani was the chief guest on this occasion. He also distributed prizes among the top performers of both teams.

First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship Trials of Punjab’s two teams will start on August 28

Lahore, August 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh has announced that the trials for the selection of Punjab’s two teams for participation in First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship will start on August 28, 2021 at National Hockey Stadium.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, in a statement on Friday said that Sports Board Punjab’s selection committee comprising General Manager Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Women Wing Ms Tanzeela Amir Cheema, Deputy Director Chand Perveen, Ms Abda Tanveer, Ms Rahat Khan, Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Asif Naz Khokhar, Rana Khalid Iqbal and Shahid Nizami will conduct the trials of young female players belonging to Punjab’s all nine divisions.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh informed that the trials of Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala divisions will be conducted on August 28, 2021 at National Hockey Stadium at 10.00am while the players from Sahiwal, Sargodha and Rawalpindi divisions will appear for trials on August 29. “The trials of three divisions Multan, Bahawalpur and DG Khan will be taken on August 30 at the same venue”.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh further informed that Punjab’s two teams will be announced on August 30 after a lengthy process of trials. “The camp training of selected players will start from August 31, 2021,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that all the 12 participating teams of upcoming First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship will be chosen purely on merit and strict directions have been passed on to the selection committee in this regard.

SBP selection committee conducts trials of Sahiwal and Sargodha divisions on second day 

Lahore, August 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):The trials for the selection of Punjab’s two teams for participation in First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship continued at the National Hockey Stadium on Sunday. It may be noted here that First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship is being organized under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab from September 7 to 12, 2021 at National Hockey Stadium.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, in a statement on Sunday said that First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship is of utmost importance for us and that is why Sports Board Punjab is making excellent preparations for the smooth holding of the grand event.

“Sports Board Punjab has organized several male and female hockey events in the recent past and the sole purpose of these hockey events is to provide sufficient playing opportunities to our potential hockey players so that we can prepare a pool of talented hockey players for our national men and women hockey teams”.

On the second day, the SBP selection committee comprising Deputy Director Chand Perveen, Ms Abda Tanveer, Ms Rahat Khan, Rana Khalid Iqbal and Shahid Nizami conducted the trials of Sahiwal and Sargodha divisions. As many as 26 players from two divisions Sahiwal and Sargodha participated in the trials. SBP selection committee members observed the trials minutely and selected only talented players purely on merit.

The players from four divisions Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Rawalpindi will turn up for trials on August 30 (Monday) at the same venue. After the trials, Punjab’s two teams will be announced on August 30 whereas the camp training of selected players will commence the next day at the National Hockey Stadium.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh witnesses trials, appreciates talent of Punjab’s female hockey players 

Lahore, August 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh appreciated the talent of Punjab’s female hockey players and said that Punjab has plenty of hockey potential which is an encouraging sign for future of hockey in Pakistan; he expressed these views while talking to media on Monday, the third and last day of trials of Punjab’s nine divisional teams for participation in First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship scheduled to start from September 7, 2021 at National Hockey Stadium.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh also witnessed the trials of Punjab’s divisional teams together with Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Chand Perveen, Assistant Director Raees ur Rehman and Security Incharge Col (retd) Shabbir. He visited different departments and inspected the arrangements of the grand hockey championship. Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Asif Naz Khokhar, Divisional Sports Officers Rana Nadeem Anjum (Multan), Ata ur Rehman (DG Khan) and members of SBP selection committee were also present on this occasion.

On the third day, the SBP selection committee conducted the trials of players of four divisions – Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Rawalpindi. As many as 13 players from Multan, 10 from DG Khan and five from Bahawalpur appeared in the trials. After the trials, the training camp of 25 selected players of Punjab’s two teams will commence on August 31, 2021 at the National Hockey Stadium.

In his media talk, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that Sports Board Punjab is making effective efforts for the promotion of hockey among the young generation of the province. “First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship is a big event in which teams from all provinces and leading departments are participating”.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said recently we organized Quaid-e-Azam and Independence Day Hockey events. “We have found several talented male and female players through these championships. We are also imparting further training to these budding players so that they can perform satisfactorily in future national and international hockey competitions”.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh further said Sports Board Punjab is focusing on the promotion of all games. “Sports Board Punjab will organize competitions of Fastest Man and Woman of Punjab, javelin throw and other athletics competitions in near future besides holding a championship of one game every month,” he added.

NCOC allows 25 percent crowds for New Zealand matches 

Lahore, August 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has approved 25 per cent crowd attendance for the upcoming Pakistan versus New Zealand series. New Zealand will arrive in Islamabad on 11 September with the three ODIs scheduled at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will stage the five T20Is.

The decision means around 4,500 spectators will be able to attend the ODIs scheduled on 17, 19 and 21 September, while approximately 5,500 spectators will be able to watch the 25 September, 26 September, 29 September, 1 October and 3 October T20Is.

Only spectators who are fully vaccinated and have Immunisation Certificate for Covid-19 will be allowed entry inside the stadia.

Following the NCOC decision, the PCB will shortly announce ticket prices and other details for New Zealand’s first tour to Pakistan in 18 years.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan: “Spectators are the essence of any sport event as they create an ambiance and atmosphere for the players to excel, perform and enjoy. In this background, we are grateful to the NCOC for allowing the PCB to invite 25 per cent crowds for the eight matches.

“I am sure following the NCOC decision, the unvaccinated cricket followers will expedite their vaccination process so that they can witness the first series on home soil between the two sides since 2003.

“This will be an opportunity for the spectators to not only enjoy some quality cricket in the season-opening series but also support and back players from either side as the ODIs count towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 qualification, while the T20Is will lead into the ICC T20 World Cup.”
