Islamabad, Dr. Ali Metab Alahmari, Director of the President’s Office at International Islamic University (IIUI), visited the new medical center located at the university’s male campus, following directives from IIUI President, H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi. This visit highlights the university’s commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities as part of its infrastructural reforms under the new strategic plan.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the new medical center is designed to offer high-priority medical services to students. Dr. Ali Metab Alahmari, accompanied by Principal Medical Officer Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman and Incharge Dr. Wakeel Hussain, reviewed the operational aspects and the services provided at the center. The medical staff briefed them on the utilization of facilities, which include laboratories, patient beds, and the capacity for daily patient visits. Currently, the center has four emergency beds and plans to further equip with X-ray machines, ECG, and other radiological tools shortly.

The visit underscored the university’s dedication to providing top-tier medical facilities to its students, aligning with President Alotaibi’s focus on student welfare as a critical aspect of the university’s development strategy.

Sardar Shamim Khan Appointed as Director of Planning and Development at University of Poonch Rawalakot


Rawalakot, Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan has been promoted to grade 20 and officially assumed the role of Director of Planning and Development at Jamia Poonch, University of Poonch Rawalakot. His new role comes as part of a broader effort to expedite development projects at the university which have previously faced significant delays.



According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, Khan, who previously served as the Treasurer of the university for about six years, has embraced his new responsibilities with a commitment to live up to the trust placed in him by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Zakir. During his tenure as treasurer, Khan was recognized for his transparent handling of the university’s financial affairs. University of the Punjab to Examine Ph.D. Study on Immunization Defaulters and COVID-19 Impact in Swat

Lahore, The Institute of Social & Cultural Studies at the University of the Punjab is set to hold a public defense for Mr. Kifayat Ullah’s Ph.D. research on April 23, 2024. His study delves into the reasons for childhood defaulters in the Expanded Program on Immunization and the impact of COVID-19 on routine vaccination in Swat, Pakistan.

According to University of the Punjab, Mr. Ullah’s dissertation titled “Reasons for Childhood Defaulters in Expanded Program on Immunization and Effect of COVID-19 on Uptake of Routine Vaccination in Swat, Pakistan” will be presented for defense at noon in the Committee Room of the Institute. The session is open for attendance by interested faculty members, as well as M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars from the university.

Lawyers in Rawalakot Extend Strike, Demand Legal Protections and Police Reforms

Rawalakot, Lawyers in Rawalakot continued their protest for the twentieth day on Tuesday, demanding the termination of an FIR against President of the District Bar Association, Asim Irshad, and six other lawyers. The lawyers are also calling for the transfer of 41 police officials and additional legal protections.

According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, the District Bar Association has been on strike due to ongoing tensions with the Rawalakot police. The lawyers marched through the city from the judicial complex, voicing their grievances and demanding immediate government action on their charter of demands. They have threatened to escalate their protests, involving students, civil society, and various other groups if their demands are not met.

The demands include the passage of the Lawyers Protection Act by the Assembly, official recognition of land for the Abbaspur Bar, and the designation of the area from the lawyer’s chamber to the judicial complex door as a no-arrest zone. Additionally, they are seeking the withdrawal of a specific FIR, immediate suspension of SSP Poonch Khawar Shaukat and two other officers, and a formal inquiry into alleged police misconduct during a recent incident witnessed by the District and Sessions Judge.

Virtual University of Pakistan Issues Final Call for Spring 2024 Course Selection

Lahore, Virtual University of Pakistan has issued a final notice to its students regarding the course selection for the Spring 2024 semester. The deadline for adding, dropping, or replacing courses has been extended to Friday, April 19, 2024, offering one last opportunity for those who have not yet completed this essential step.

According to Virtual University of Pakistan, the extension serves as a final chance for students to avoid being marked as “Inactive Students.” Students who do not select their courses by the newly extended deadline will need to seek re-admission as per university policies and are subject to a Re-Admission Fee in the subsequent semester.

Classes for the Spring 2024 semester commenced on April 1, 2024, and the university has made it clear that students are responsible for any late enrollment. Consequently, they must catch up on any quizzes or assignments already conducted. Furthermore, after the specified course selection date, the university will not entertain any requests for course enrollment or semester unfreezing. The notice also stipulates that once fee vouchers are issued, they will not be subject to adjustments or revisions.
