IoBM Hosts Panel on World Press Freedom Day to Discuss Challenges and Integrity in Journalism


Karachi, The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) marked World Press Freedom Day with a panel discussion hosted by its Media Department, focusing on the crucial role of journalism in promoting press freedom and the ongoing challenges journalists face in maintaining integrity. The event highlighted the importance of free speech and independent journalism through a series of discussions led by prominent media figures.



According to Institute of Business Management, the panel featured notable journalists Mr. Faizullah Khan from ARY and Ms. Shazia Hasan from Dawn, who are also part of the visiting faculty at IoBM. They shared their experiences and insights on the adversities journalists endure and the resilience required to report with integrity. Topics ranged from tackling social injustices to handling complex reporting issues, aiming to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists.



The gathering served not only as a celebration of press freedom but also as a reaffirmation of IoBM’s commitment to nurturing skilled journalists capable of driving societal change. The event concluded with Mr. Ejaz Wasay, Head of Media Studies at IoBM, delivering a vote of thanks and presenting mementos to the guest speakers, emphasizing the educational impact of such discussions on students.

CMH Multan Medical College Announces Vacancy for 4th Year MBBS Transfer Students

Multan, CMH Multan Institute of Medical Sciences has announced the availability of one vacant seat for a 4th-year MBBS student for the 2021-2022 academic session. The seat will be filled by a student transferring from other medical colleges in accordance with the PM and DC and NUMS transfer policy guidelines.

According to CMH Multan Institute of Medical Sciences, the candidate for the transfer must have passed the second professional MBBS or 1st professional BDS (Rule 17(1) of PM and DC Policy dated 12 Oct 2022 and Clause 1 of NUMS Transfer policy). Applications for the transfer are to be submitted by May 17, 2024, with all required documents and forms attached as per the detailed notification by the institute. The transfer will be finalized based on merit and only fully completed applications received within the specified period will be considered.

The process is designed to ensure that only eligible and qualified candidates are considered, maintaining the high standards of medical education at CMH Multan Institute of Medical Sciences. Candidates who are shortlisted will be called for an interview following the scrutiny of their documents.

HEC Chairman Emphasizes Youth Development Through Sports and Education in Karachi

Karachi, During the opening ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Youth Sports League at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, highlighted the crucial role of youth in the nation’s future, urging for enhanced focus on their development through sports and education.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Dr. Ahmed addressed the necessity of reversing the declining availability of sports facilities in educational institutions and discussed the HEC’s investment in promoting sports alongside academic pursuits. He emphasized the importance of physical activities in developing well-rounded individuals and mentioned HEC’s efforts to facilitate international sports collaborations, including sending teams to countries like Russia and Germany during summer vacations.

The event also celebrated the reappointment of Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai as the Vice Chancellor of SMIU. Dr. Sahrai, in his speech, praised the role of the HEC in supporting higher education and sports, noting the participation of 1500 players in the sports league across Sindh, with 60 finalists competing in Karachi. He called for the inclusion of regional games in HEC’s sports initiatives to preserve and promote cultural heritage.

Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of Sindh HEC, advocated for dedicated sports budgets for universities to regularize and enhance sports activities, highlighting the soft power of sports in presenting Pakistan’s image internationally. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of souvenirs to guests, including HEC officials and sports team representatives from across the province.

Lahore, The Punjab University Officers Welfare Association (PUOWA) has elected Dr. Tauqir Ali as its new President for 2024, following elections held at the university’s undergraduate block on Thursday.

According to University of the Punjab, the election saw other key positions filled, with Rana Muzaffar Ali as General Secretary, Imtiaz Ahmad as Senior Vice President, Intikhab Alam as Vice President, Kashif Nazir as Joint Secretary, and Muhammad Waris as Publicity Secretary. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Tauqir expressed gratitude towards his colleagues for their support and committed to working collaboratively towards the welfare of the Punjab University community.

UET Mardan Seeks Bids for Construction of New Campus Boundary Wall

Mardan, The University of Engineering and Technology Mardan has officially opened the tender process for the construction of a boundary wall at its new campus, signaling the next phase in the institution’s expansion efforts. The project, which is part of the university’s development plan, aims to enhance infrastructure and security for its growing student population and faculty.

According to University of Engineering and Technology – Mardan, the tender invites registered contractors to submit their bids for the construction of the west and south sides of the new campus boundary wall. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 32,070,792.00, with contractors required to deposit 2% earnest money amounting to Rs. 641,416.00. The deadline for bid submission is set for May 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with all proposals to be submitted at the university’s conference room.

The construction is crucial for the university as it expands its facilities and aims to provide a secure learning environment.
