Chinese Delegation from Northwest A&F University Explores Collaboration with UVAS in Lahore

Lahore: A delegation led by Prof. Dr. Yu Jiang from Northwest A&F University (NWAFU) in Shaanxi, China, visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore to discuss potential collaborations. The meeting, presided over by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani, focused on faculty and student exchange programs, research collaboration, and mutual academic interests, particularly in animal genomics, biotechnology, and veterinary science.

According to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the meeting included prominent UVAS faculty members such as Prof. Dr. Kamran Ashraf, Dean of Veterinary Science, and Prof. Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean of Bio-sciences. Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani welcomed the delegation to UVAS, sharing a documentary that highlighted the institution's history, research, and collaboration efforts. He also mentioned the Punjab government's initiatives to boost livestock farmers' profits and enhance meat exports by resolving trade obstacles and meeting international standards.

Dr. Yu Jiang provided an overview of Northwest A&F University, detailing its faculties, degree programs, and research achievements, including 160 faculty members, 2,476 students, 1,272 published research papers, and 116 patents. He also discussed the university's work in modern breeding systems. The visit underscored the potential for collaborative efforts between NWAFU and UVAS to advance research and academic opportunities in the field of veterinary and animal sciences.
