Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization Holds Two Weeks Long Course on Ethical Hacking

Islamabad, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):Ethical Hacking is an act of intruding/penetrating into system or networks to find out threats, vulnerabilities in those systems which a malicious attacker may find and exploit causing loss of data, financial loss or other major damages. The purpose of ethical hacking is to improve the security of the network or systems by fixing the vulnerabilities found during testing.

Office of Research Innovation and commercialization in collaboration with Department of Computed Science conducted two weeks’ comprehensive workshop on Ethical Hacking for Beginners. The purpose of the session was to equip students with the art of preventing data from being stolen and misused by malicious attackers.

In this course, participants were provided hands on experience about the ethical hacking. Various hacking tools and hacking technologies were demonstrated during the training. The resource person for the said course was Mr. Amer Zaheer, Lecturer Department of Computer science. Dean Research and Innovation and Dean ELIC graced the closing ceremony of the course in which the participants were awarded course completion certificates.

Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization Holds Six Weeks Long Course on Amazon Trading 

Islamabad, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):E-commerce has increasingly become a vital component of business strategy and recent hype in E-commerce has made the world realize the concrete and actual scope of online markets. Considering the importance of online business, Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST) partnered with Checkout US to conduct training and provide mentorship to students for easy earnings. Checkout US has been indulged in consulting business for more than 12 years. They offer a wide range of profitable business opportunities and has also established online assets in the field of E-commerce.

Office of Research Innovation and commercialization in collaboration with Checkout US conducted a six weeks long comprehensive course on Amazon Trading. The session was conducted by resource persons from Checkout US and consisted of a total 08 Modules which were covered in six weeks from 5th Nov, 2021 to 14th Jan, 2022. The purpose of the session was to equip students with the art of earning easy income through E-commerce.

Dean Research and Innovation and HoD Management Sciences graced the closing ceremony of the course in which the participants were awarded course completion certificates. Checkout US, also offered internships to Mr. Ammar Yasir and Mr. Shahmeer (Course participants) based upon their excellent performance throughout the course. Dean Research and Innovation concluded the session by word of thanks to the audience and the resource persons.

Industrial R and D lab established by PMA Healthcare Private Limited at NUST ASAB 

Islamabad, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):Innovation and Commercialization (I and C) Dte. at NUST proudly announces the inauguration of the Industrial R and D lab established by PMA Healthcare Pvt. Ltd at NUST Atta ur Rehman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB). Pro-rector (RIC) NUST, Dr Rizwan Riaz, inaugurated the lab where the industrial partners from PMA Healthcare Pvt. Ltd were also present along with Principal ASAB Dr Hussain Ahmed Janjua, Head of Departments and the Principal Investigators who will be working on the industrial projects. The lab was established after the signing of an agreement with PMA Healthcare last month, worth PKR 25 million for the lab and the ongoing projects from the industrial partners.

This industrial research and development lab will not only be utilised for developing diagnostic kits for a number of diseases but will also facilitate the researchers in using its facilities for other projects as well. Speaking at the occasion Dr Rizwan Riaz stressed the need for a stronger industry-academia linkage for devising indigenous solutions to Pakistan’s local problems. Collaborations like this would not only open up new avenues of practical research for the faculty, but they would also help in the capacity building of the faculty and the students in line with the expectations of the industry.

Founder’s Day Celebrations 

Lahore, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Founders Day was organized to celebrate the jubilance of 71 birthday of Shaykh-ul- Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul- Qadri, Chairman BOG, MUL. The Chief Guest was honourable Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Governor of Punjab. He expressed his delight over his friendship with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri which has been knotted almost for 30 years.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman BOG, MUL presided over the ceremony. In his address, he highlighted the services of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for the promotion of knowledge and peace. Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Vice-Chancellor, MUL paid rich tribute to Shaykh-ul- Islam for his great scholarly and religious services.

On the occasion of Founder’s Day Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz ul Hassan from School of Islamic Studies received Research Excellence Award, Dr. Nadia Jabbin from School of Botany won Best Research Science and Technology Award and Dr. Ijaz Aslam from School of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance won Best Research Social Science Award while Mr. Waqas Shair, Lecturer School of Economics and Finance won the Best Teacher Award.

There was a lucky draw for Umrah. Miss Memona Kanwal from the teaching staff, Miss. Hina Shahzadi from non-teaching staff and student Mr. Shehar Yar Mohammad were lucky winners. On this jubilant occasion, a special fee discount was offered for Spring Admission 2022 and 17 students were awarded scholarships under Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri Merit Scholarship at the ceremony.

A cake-cutting ceremony was also held in which participated all the distinguished guests and faculty members. World-renowned classical singer Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, filmmaker, director Syed Noor, renowned comedians Honey Albela, Iftikhar Thakur, Nabeel Gabol, Azhar Rangeela and Wahdat Rameez rhyme Naat were part of this ceremony.

Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Governor of Punjab Awards Degrees at the Opening Ceremony of the 21st Convocation 

Lahore, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 21st Convocation 2022 at the UMT Greens on February 18 and 19. The convocation was attended by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, President ILM/UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Vice-Chairman UMT/ILM Trust Farooq Salman Murad, Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza, DG UMT Abid Sherwani, Registrar UMT Saleem Atta, Head Examination Yousaf Jameel along with other esteemed guests. Total 2311 graduates were given degrees in various disciplines on this occasion. According to the details 1458 Bachelors, 202 Masters, 634 MS/MPhil, and 17 PhD degrees were conferred.

The first day of the convocation started off with a special opening ceremony and the participants of Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM), Institute of Aviation Sciences (IAS), School of Commerce and Accountancy (SCA), School of Professional Advancement (SPA), School of Science (SSC), and School of Systems and Technology (SST) were awarded degrees.

Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza gave a welcome note where he offered his genuine appreciation to the presence of Governor Punjab, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, and said that he is a source of inspiration for the graduating students, their parents, and the entire UMT family. Addressing the attendees of the convocation, he admired the graduates on the accomplishment of completing their respective degrees and proclaimed that their presence has added colour and value to the ceremony.

Dr Asif Raza shared that UMT has accomplished different milestones throughout a specific timeframe. He also treasured the passion and commitment of the faculty and staff in assisting UMT to maintain its stature as a prominent premier general research university in the country. Rector UMT urged the participants to strive for higher goals in life and advised them to transform into superb professionals and credible human beings.

Vice-Chairman UMT Farooq Salman Murad congratulated the graduates and advised them that as you start a new phase of your life you need to become responsible citizens of the society and leave a mark on human history with your ambitious behaviour and aligned vision. He further stated that we should be grateful to Allah Almighty for our accomplishments, as we only get opportunities for success and growth when we are thankful. Farooq Murad advised the students to believe in themselves, make themselves a brand, and always have a growth mindset.

Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar, Governor of Punjab congratulated the graduates for achieving this great milestone and making their parents and teachers proud. He highly praised Ibrahim Hasan Murad for his tremendous efforts, hard work, and dedication in making UMT reach the skyline of success and said that he is proud that UMT is functioning on the vision of Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad (Shaheed). Appreciating the parents, he said that mothers and fathers play a significant role in the grooming and success of children and children need to respect them to be fruitful in this life and the hereafter. He shared his personal experiences of how he overcame challenges and achieved his goals, one after another.

Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar said that it is vital to recognize that there will be failures in every journey and admit that there will be difficulties, but we always learn something from our mistakes. He also highlighted the importance of passion, commitment, and consistency while achieving goals. He shared that his motto in life is “nothing is impossible”. At the end of the ceremony, President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad presented a souvenir to Governor Punjab, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar.

UET Centennial Celebrations: Chemistry Department Organizes Bonfire

Lahore, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):“Department of Chemistry, UET, Lahore, organised a bonfire to mark the centennial celebrations of the establishment of UET, on 15-02-2021. It was the first in the series of events that will take place at the department. The event was managed by the shining students of BS Chemistry, where they made the evening wonderful by various competitions. The event was attended by the respected Dean, Prof Dr. Shahid Rafique, Chairperson, Prof Dr Farhat Yasmeen, Prof Dr Aneela, PRO UET, Ms Shahida, faculty, staff, and other students. They enjoyed the enchanting performances of the students, followed by lovely music by UET Music society. The event was concluded at scrumptious BBQ dinner”.
