Chairman Bilawal outlined the PPP’s 10-point economic contract aimed at combating inflation, poverty, and unemployment. He instructed party workers in Multan to disseminate the party’s manifesto, which promises to double wages in five years, provide free electricity up to 300 units, ensure free quality education, and establish healthcare institutions like the NICVD in Multan.
The PPP plans to expand the Benazir Income Support Programme and introduce ‘Benazir Mazdoor Card’ and ‘Benazir Kissan Card’ to financially assist laborers and farmers. Additionally, the ‘Benazir Youth Card’ aims to empower the youth with essential professional skills.
Chairman Bilawal emphasized that the PPP’s participation in elections is driven by a commitment to serving the people, not personal gains. He announced his return to Multan on January 26 for a public gathering, inviting people to support the PPP’s vision of politics free from hate and division.
Responding to questions, Chairman Bilawal asserted that the PPP’s aim is to win the people’s trust, drawing on the teachings of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He differentiated the PPP’s ideology from other parties, stating that while others cater to elite interests, the PPP has consistently worked for the common people, farmers, laborers, students, and journalists.
Chairman Bilawal criticized political rivals Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif for prioritizing personal vendettas over national interests. He also lamented the missed opportunity for electoral reforms due to a lack of support from Imran Khan’s PTI. Regarding the upcoming elections, he confirmed the scheduled date of February 8, as stated by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, and expressed confidence in the PPP’s resilience and readiness for the electoral contest.
