Islamabad, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, spoke to the media after visiting ‘The Wall of Martyrs’ at the Interior Ministry in Islamabad, where he hoisted the picture of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He expressed his gratitude to the caretaker Interior Minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, for the initiative that honors the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, Chairman Bilawal acknowledged the sacrifices of politicians, police, lawyers, judges, and army soldiers in achieving peace and eradicating terrorism in Pakistan. He criticized a recent decision made during the power transition in Afghanistan, which he said undermined the efforts of these martyrs. This decision involved engaging with terrorists previously defeated by Pakistani forces, leading to their release from prisons in Pakistan and Afghanistan and their resettlement in Pakistan’s tribal areas. Bilawal attributed this to a policy shift by Imran Khan, which he believes has resurrected the terrorism crisis in Pakistan.
Chairman Bilawal emphasized the need for investigation and accountability for those involved in making such decisions, arguing that future policies should not undermine the sacrifices of those who fought against terrorism. He stressed the importance of keeping the Parliament and people informed about such significant decisions to prevent repeat occurrences.
On the topic of India, Chairman Bilawal reiterated that India is violating international laws and United Nations resolutions concerning Kashmir. He urged international powers to reconsider their support for India, emphasizing that Kashmir remains a disputed territory that must be resolved.
Regarding the Pakistan Peoples Party, Chairman Bilawal confirmed that he continues the tradition set by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Makhdoom Ameen Faheem, leading the party and its parliamentary wing.
He also discussed the Presidential Reference concerning Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, expressing gratitude to Justice Qazi Faez Isa for hearing the case. He requested that the proceedings be broadcast live for transparency and to expose those involved in the past crimes.
Chairman Bilawal concluded by affirming the party’s commitment to justice and to engaging with Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism, echoing the belief in free and fair elections and the principle of ‘One Man, One Vote.’
