Punjab University Institute of Applied Psychology organized a seminar entitled “Personality Disorders”

Lahore, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Institute of Applied Psychology has arranged a series of webinars for creating Mental Health Awareness as a part of Independence Day Celebrations 2021 that would be continued till the end of August, 2021.The fifth webinar among the series was conducted by Ms Mirrat Gul Butt, who is a who is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Mayo Hospital, Lahore. She is a Vice-President of Pakistan Association of Cognitive Therapists (PACT) and an executive member of PACP. She specializes in the courses CBT, CT, DBT skills and DBT with adolescents and family, on “Personality Disorders”, Wednesday, 25th August, 2021 at 11:30 am.

The webinar was conducted through the platform of Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, chaired by the Director of Institute of Applied Psychology, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, and moderated by Miss. Hamna Zahid. The talk focused around one of the major groups of mental illnesses that is the personality disorders which are long-term patterns of behaviour and inner experiences that differ significantly from what is expected.

The pattern of experience and behaviour begins by late adolescence or early adulthood and causes distress or problems in functioning. It was emphasized how important it is that the diagnosis is made on time and the part played by the Clinical Psychologists in treatment of personality disorders. Moreover, the role of social and moral support was also discussed. The webinar was live streamed through the official Facebook page of IAP.

IUB Students wins Chinese Scholarships

Bahawalpur, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Zhongan University of Economics and Law of the People’s Republic of China has announced three scholarships for M.Phil and Ph.D programs for students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. These scholarships are fully funded for tuition fee, accommodation and other expenses.

Dean Faculty of Management Sciences Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal called on Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob along with scholarship recipients Shoaib Manzoor, Mohammad Umar Asghar Rind and Amal Atta Muhammad. Dr. Imran Rashid and Afaq Ahmed were also present on the occasion. Vice Chancellor appreciated and thanked the provision of scholarships in higher education by the Chinese University and thanked the host university.

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Umer Farooq chairs meeting to review Faisalabad Division’s Sports Development Projects and sports activities

Lahore, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Umer Farooq presided over an important meeting to review Faisalabad Division’s Sports Development Projects and sports activities at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, Deputy Director Rauf Bajwa, Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad Rana Hammad Iqbal, District Sports Officer Faisalabad Ms Sajida Latif and other officials attended the meeting. Divisional and District Sports Officers of Faisalabad briefed the meeting about Faisalabad Division’s various Sports Development Projects and sports activities.

Addressing the meeting, Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Umer Farooq said there is plenty of sports talent in Faisalabad. “We are organising regular sports competitions in Faisalabad to groom young players. It’s the only way to provide sufficient opportunities to talented youth of the far-flung areas.”

He stressed upon the concerned officials to complete sports development projects as early as possible. “The sports culture will further grow in Faisalabad division after the completion of these valuable sports facilities,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh on this occasion said: “Sports Board Punjab is putting special emphasis on the promotion of sports. We are establishing the best sports infrastructure at tehsil level to bring the talented youth towards sports activities”.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti greets national cricket team for winning 2nd Test match against West Indies

Lahore, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti has congratulated national cricket team and coaching staff for winning T20 series and 2nd Test match against hosts West Indies cricket team. In his greeting message on Wednesday, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said Pakistan’s young players especially skipper Babar Azam, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and middle order batsman Fawad Alam played key role in extraordinary victory against strong West Indian team.

“After winning T20 series and levelling Test rubber against West Indian team, now our cricketers should put their focus on the preparations for T20 World Cup scheduled to be staged in UAE”. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said Punjab government will make excellent security measures for upcoming home series against New Zealand.

Federal Minister for IPC Fahmida Mirza approves Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh’s proposal for holding U-17 Inter-Provincial level events of one game every month

Lahore, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Fahmida Mirza presided over an important meeting regarding sports promotion in Islamabad on Wednesday. Officer of Sports Departments from all provinces including Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh participated in the meeting.

Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Fahmida Mirza has accepted Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh’s proposal for holding U-17 Inter-Provincial level events of one game every month. She directed all the provinces to organize sports championship of one game every month.

In this regard, Peshawar will host Athletics Championship as first event from September 24, 2021 while Punjab will hold hockey event in November. Addressing the meeting, Federal Minister for IPC Fahmida Mirza lauded the performance of Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh for the growth of sports culture in the province. “Sports Board Punjab has organized most number of sports events than other provinces which is quite encouraging for the promotion of sports,” she added.

On the directions of Federal Minister for IPC Fahmida Mirza, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will hold U-17 Inter-Provincial Athletics Championship in September, Gilgit Baltistan will host U-17 Inter-Provincial Football Championship in October, U-17 Badminton Championship in Balochistan in November, U-17 Hockey Championship in Punjab in November and U-17 Table Tennis Championship in Sindh in December 2021.

Addressing the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said Sports Board Punjab organized several sports events on Independence Day. “We are also holding First Chief minister Punjab 5-a-side National women Hockey Championship from Sept 7 to 12. Apart from this SBP is also going to host Punjab’s Fastest Man and Woman contest in the middle of September”. Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti and Deputy Director Rauf Bajwa also attended the meeting.

ORIC holds workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Protection in Academia’ at UVAS

Lahore, August 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organized a one day workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Protection in Academia’ for faculty members at UVAS Veterinary Academy.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the concluding session of the training workshop and distributed certificates among the participants while Director ORIC Dr Farhan Jamil, Deputy Director University-industry linkages and Technology Transfer Dr Adnan Aslam and number of UVAS faculty members as participants from different departments of UVAS were present. Assistant Controller of Patents Ms Shakra Khurshid from Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) Pakistan with having an experience of more than a decade in the domain of Intellectual Property was the resource person in the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nasim appreciated the resource person and ORIC team for arranging this workshop on an informative topic. He urged Intellectual Property is future and encouraged the faculty members to file patents. He extended his full support to the ORIC and faculty to excel in this area. The main objective of the workshop was to create awareness among the faculty members about Intellectual Property Rights and their significance in academia.

Later, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad meeting was held with Dr Munawar Raza Kazmi, Country Manager came from Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research. They discussed about ongoing Dairy-Beef, Small Ruminant projects and future strategic plans. Director Institute of Continuing Education and Extension Dr Qurban Hussain and Project Manager Dairy-Beef Project Team Dr Humera Iqbal were also present in this meeting.
