Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Honors Late Labor Leader Karamat Ali with Condolence Reference

Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi held a condolence reference for Karamat Ali, a prominent labor leader and human rights activist. The event took place at Auditorium I, where influential figures from various fields gathered to pay tribute to Ali’s life and legacy.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, The reference was attended by Muhammad Ahmad Shah, Hussain Naqi, Dr. Syed Jafar Ahmed, Mazhar Abbas, Shah Muhammad Shah, Nasir Mansoor, Salam Dharijo, Sheema Kirmani, Aqeela Naz, Qamarul Hasan, Hasna Khatun, and Shazia Karamat, who shared their memories and reflected on Ali’s impact on labor rights and human rights advocacy. Shah Muhammad Shah recalled founding the Pakistan National Party with Ali in 1979, describing their personal and political ties and Ali’s role as a globally recognized revolutionary.

Participants at the event described Karamat Ali as a multi-talented individual who was not only involved in politics but also had skills in painting and calligraphy. His commitment to labor rights was highlighted through his efforts to unite trade unions and foster collective action among workers. Renowned classical dancer Sheema Kirmani praised Ali’s vision for a just society and performed a ghazal in his honor, emphasizing his belief in the power of collective rights and action.

The condolence reference served not only as a tribute to Karamat Ali’s contributions but also as a call to continue his mission for workers’ rights and social justice.
