Lahore, Pakistan, In a significant move to promote education and support talented students, Al Moiz and Thal Industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to sponsor additional scholars under the National Outreach Programme (NOP). The agreement was finalized at a ceremony on January 31, 2024, marking a continuation of the companies’ commitment to fostering academic opportunities for deserving students.
According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the MoU signing event was attended by notable figures including Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS; Mr. Iftikhar Babar, Senior Vice President CSR and Corporate Affairs, Al Moiz and Thal Industries; and Mr. Muhammad Yasir Ali, Senior Manager, CSR, Al Moiz and Thal Industries. LUMS senior leadership and staff members, such as Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director Advancement; Ms. Rabia Ahmad, Director, Office of Admissions; and Ms. Shandana Mehdi, Manager, NOP Centre, were also present to welcome the guests.
The ceremony provided an opportunity for the guests to learn about the strategic initiatives at LUMS and the significant impact of the NOP. Launched in 2001, the NOP aims to make premium education accessible to talented students from various financial backgrounds across Pakistan. This initiative has been recognized globally, winning the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 for ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.’
Dr. Cheema expressed gratitude towards Al Moiz and Thal Industries for their ongoing support and emphasized the importance of industry-academia partnerships in nurturing young minds and facilitating mutual learning. Mr. Babar highlighted the companies’ motivation to contribute to the NOP, underscoring their commitment to creating a positive impact and fostering progress through education.
