Karachi, Aga Khan University is celebrating the prestigious recognition of two of its esteemed faculty members, Dr Zulfiqar A. Bhutta, Founding Director of the Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD), and Dr Jai K. Das, Assistant Director of IGHD and Assistant Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health. According to Aga Khan University, the Highly Cited Researchers list by Clarivate is an annual recognition honoring the extraordinary impact of leading scientists globally. This year, 6,849 researchers were distinguished, with Drs. Bhutta and Das securing their spots among the elite. The selection involved analyzing 188,500 Highly Cited Papers from 2012 to 2022, published in prominent journals indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index. This rigorous process ensures the acknowledgment of the most influential and impactful researchers in their fields.
Dr Jai Das, renowned for his multifaceted research impact, has been acknowledged in the ‘Cross-Field’ category. His diverse research work encompasses community trials, population-based surveys, qualitative and mixed-methods research, and evidence-based systematic reviews. He has authored over 200 international peer-reviewed papers and holds an impressive H-Index of over 70.
Both Dr. Bhutta and Dr. Das have focused their careers on leveraging evidence in policy and programs, estimating disease burdens, assessing intervention effectiveness, and enhancing research capacity in public health. They have significantly influenced both national and international policies through their involvement in WHO guideline committees and working groups.
