Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for Renewed Efforts to End Child Labour

KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, emphasized the need for national and international dedication to eliminate child labour, highlighting that a society cannot progress if its children are denied education, safety, and a carefree childhood. He advocated for a future where children experience learning and opportunity rather than exploitation and deprivation.

According to a press release from Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman remarked on the constitutional protections established by the 1973 Constitution, a legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, which prohibits child labour in hazardous jobs and guarantees free education for children aged five to sixteen. These measures underscore the state's duty to safeguard children's futures.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari reiterated the party's alignment with the ideals of Benazir Bhutto, stating her belief in equal opportunities for all children to contribute to national progress. He appealed to governments, employers, civil society, and communities to unite in eradicating child labour, aiming to create an environment where children are defined by their aspirations rather than their labor.
