Islamabad: SHINE Humanity Pakistan and Aga Khan University's Department of Paediatrics and Child Health have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve maternal, newborn, and child health across underserved communities in Pakistan. This strategic partnership aims to enhance health and nutrition outcomes through collaborative efforts in areas such as nutrition counselling, malnutrition treatment, and intravenous iron therapy for pregnant women with anaemia.
According to the Aga Khan University, the collaboration will leverage SHINE Humanity's community-based healthcare experience and AKU's research and academic strengths. The partnership will also focus on data and artificial intelligence initiatives, utilizing SHINE Humanity's Electronic Medical Record data for joint research and predictive modelling. This aligns with AKU’s ongoing development of an AI Hub for maternal and child health in collaboration with global academic partners.
Faheem Khan, CEO of SHINE Humanity, emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing, stating that the MoU creates a platform for data-informed solutions to health challenges. Dr. Fyezah Jehan, Chair of AKU's Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, highlighted the potential for the partnership to deliver measurable health improvements through a combination of rigorous research and community health delivery systems.
The MoU signing ceremony included senior leadership and technical teams from both organizations, underscoring the commitment to enhancing community-level care and informing broader health strategies.
