Karachi: Religious leaders have called for the immediate withdrawal of allegedly false cases registered against Makhdoom Nadeem Hashmi, a prominent spiritual figure and leader within the Milli Yakjehti Council. This demand follows a joint statement by several religious scholars, led by Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, President of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan and Milli Yakjehti Council, condemning the charges against Hashmi.
According to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, Dr. Zubair, along with scholars like Sahibzada Mahmood Ahmad Qadri and Syed Abdul Ghani Shah, criticized the actions against Hashmi, describing them as politically or personally motivated retaliatory measures. They argued that such actions threaten religious harmony and social peace, and they urged for the cases to be annulled.
The scholars emphasized the need for a fair and transparent investigation to identify those responsible for what they term a conspiracy against Hashmi, who is the Sajjada Nashin of the spiritual shrine of Khora Sharif in Sindh. Dr. Zubair underscored the historical significance of shrines as centers of peace and tolerance, expressing regret over the targeting of spiritual figures.
The group has appealed to higher authorities and judicial institutions to address the situation urgently, ensuring justice and protecting the honor of religious and national personalities. They have also signaled their intent to seek redress through all constitutional and legal avenues if the issue remains unresolved.
