Pakistan’s New Ambassador to Jordan Meets with President Zardari

Islamabad: Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Jordan, Maj. Gen (Retd) Khurram Sarfraz Khan, met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss his new diplomatic role. President Zardari expressed confidence that Khan would enhance Pakistan's ties with Jordan and Palestine.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari congratulated Khan on his appointment, emphasizing the importance of Pakistan's relationship with Jordan, which is based on shared history, culture, and faith. The President also extended his best wishes to King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan and Palestine.

During the discussion, President Zardari highlighted the agreements made during King Abdullah II's visit to Pakistan in November, focusing on strengthening cooperation in political engagement, trade, defense, and people-to-people contacts. He also emphasized the significance of the Pakistani diaspora in Jordan and the need for improved consular services.

On Palestine, President Zardari reiterated Pakistan's support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with pre-1967 borders. He acknowledged Jordan's role in promoting regional peace and expressed confidence in Khan's ability to further these diplomatic efforts.
