Islamabad: The head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and the Milli Yakjehti Council, Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, has expressed concerns over the Pakistani government's failure to implement a unanimous declaration made by religious scholars. In letters addressed to prominent religious leaders, including Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani and Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Dr. Zubair highlighted the lack of action on a ten-point declaration from a December 2025 gathering, particularly its stance against sending peacekeeping forces to disarm Hamas.
According to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, Dr. Zubair's communication underlines a specific concern regarding Pakistan's agreement to join the "Gaza Board Peace," initiated by Trump. This move contradicts the declaration's tenth clause, which opposes any action against what is described as a sacred struggle for Palestinian freedom. The declaration also calls for addressing internal armed activities with wisdom and collaboration with Afghan leadership, a matter on which the government has made no progress.
Dr. Zubair emphasized that the integrity of Pakistan depends on adhering to the declaration's proposals. He warned that the nation is now looking to the Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Ummat for guidance on future actions if the government continues its current course.
