Pakistan Penalized for Slow Over-Rate in Third New Zealand ODI

Mount Maunganui: The Pakistan cricket team has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the third One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand, marking the third consecutive match in the series where they have incurred such a penalty.

The team, captained by Mohammad Rizwan, was penalized five percent of their match fee after falling one over short of the target, as determined by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. The decision took into account the time allowances available to the team during the match.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, a fine is imposed for every over a team fails to bowl within the allotted time. Rizwan accepted the sanction on behalf of his team following the assessment by on-field umpires Chris Brown and Paul Reiffel, with assistance from third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Wayne Knights.

This penalty comes as Pakistan concludes their tour with a 3-0 ODI series loss to New Zealand, having also suffered a 4-1 defeat in the preceding five-match T20I series. The series results reflect New Zealand’s dominance over the visitors.
