Imran Khan’s Health Status Sparks Political Concerns in Pakistan

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid has issued a warning to the ruling authorities and the judiciary regarding the health and confinement conditions of PTI's founding chairman, Imran Khan. He emphasized that the state would be held responsible should any harm befall Khan, suggesting that his health is a matter of federal stability.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid highlighted that Imran Khan has never compromised on his health or principles, despite facing prolonged imprisonment. He argued that Khan's health is linked to constitutional, scientific, and political arguments, and keeping him isolated from the outside world and his medical team constitutes a form of "slow-burning torture" under International Criminal Law.

Khalid further warned that harming Khan could lead to nationwide unrest, as Khan is viewed as a crucial political bridge between the youth and the federation. He stressed that Khan's well-being is vital for maintaining peaceful political processes in the country.

Additionally, Khalid pointed out that the situation risks undermining confidence among international investors and institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF), potentially impacting Pakistan's economy and stock market. He demanded immediate access for Khan's personal physicians and family to assess his health, warning of potential public unrest if the situation remains unresolved.
