KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid has denounced the Sindh government's recent decision to increase water and sewerage tariffs in the city by 7.05 percent, labeling it an "inflation bomb" on the residents of Karachi. Khalid, in a statement, argued that the citizens are already struggling with a severe water shortage, and the implementation of these new rates by the Water and Sewerage Corporation is unjust.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government, claiming it has failed to deliver basic services to the public. He alleged that water theft and an influential tanker mafia are benefiting from official support, exacerbating the challenges faced by the city's residents. Khalid accused the Water Corporation of favoring the tanker mafia over providing piped water to citizens, compounding the financial burden on Karachiites. Furthermore, he claimed that the Water and Sewerage Board is plagued by corruption, failing to offer relief to the public.

Khalid demanded the immediate withdrawal of the gazette notification, emphasizing PTI's commitment to defending the rights of Karachi's citizens. He pledged that the party would actively challenge this perceived injustice in various forums, asserting that the current leadership lacks the moral authority to continue in power due to its repeated imposition of economic hardships on the populace.
