Islamabad, The International Islamic University (IIUI) unveiled its new Science Technology and Business Space (STBS) at the university’s new campus this Tuesday, marking a significant stride towards enhancing industry-academia collaboration. The inauguration ceremony was led by IIUI President Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the STBS is designed to serve as a dynamic hub where faculty, researchers, and students can collaborate on various technological and non-technological projects. Dr. Alotaibi emphasized the facility’s role in aligning the university with modern educational trends and fostering an ecosystem conducive to innovation and societal service.
The event saw significant participation from IIUI’s top officials, including Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, who highlighted the STBS’s potential to provide job and internship opportunities through collaborative projects. The space spans over 20,000 sq ft and represents the first phase of the university’s broader Science, Technology and Business Park initiative.
Engr. Ahsan Mirza, Director of the Business Incubation Centre and newly appointed Director of STBS, detailed the infrastructure’s capabilities, including industrial front offices and support for business incubation enterprises and startups. This initiative positions IIUI as a leader in integrating academic research with industry needs, which is essential for national economic development.
The STBS is expected to play a crucial role in advancing IIUI’s mission to remain at the forefront of educational innovation and economic uplift in Pakistan.
