Four Female Students at University of Sindh Awarded British Scottish Scholarships

Jamshoro, In a significant academic event, four female students at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, were awarded scholarship checks under the British Scottish Scholarship program. The scholarships were presented by Sheikh-ul-Jamia Sindh Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Mohammad Siddiq Kalhoro. The recipients included one undergraduate and three MPhil scholars from various scientific disciplines. The total scholarship amount distributed was 15 lakh 45 thousand rupees.

According to University of Sindh, the event saw the distribution of Rs.177,000 to Laiba, an undergraduate student of Medical Laboratory Technology. Additionally, three MPhil students, Iqra Kanwal of Biochemistry, Princess Hina of Botany, and Hariya Khan of Microbiology, received Rs 4 lakh 56 thousand each. The selection process involved an interview committee comprising Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ali Jariko, Prof. Dr. Irfana Begum Mallah, and Prof. Dr. Nanak Ram, who selected these students from a pool of five applicants.

The scholarship initiative is a collaboration with the British Council aimed at supporting young female scholars in Pakistan. Professor Kalhoro highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to secure more scholarships in partnership with the British Council to aid more students. He emphasized the importance of students applying for available scholarships to financially support their education.

The ceremony was attended by notable university officials including Pro Vice Chancellor Sindh University Lad Campus Badin Prof. Dr. Khalilur Rehman Khombati, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration Prof. Dr. Javed Ahmed Chandio, and officials from the Students Financial Aid Office, Qamar Nangaraj and Rafi Memon.
