Chairperson Returns, Reports Abuse of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in U.S. Prison

Karachi, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement and sister of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, returned to Karachi after two visits to her sister in FMC Carswell, a U.S. prison. Dr. Fauzia was welcomed by a large group of supporters and political leaders at Karachi Airport, expressing solidarity and hope for Dr. Aafia’s eventual return.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui reported that during her visits, Dr. Aafia was subjected to severe mistreatment, including being forced to recite the Bible and receiving electric shocks. These allegations were brought to light amidst a call for immediate intervention to address violations of Dr. Aafia’s religious and human rights. Additionally, the spokesperson for the Aafia Movement highlighted recent incidents of sexual violence against Dr. Aafia, urging global attention and immediate protective measures.
