New York, Ahead of the highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash between Pakistan and India, Pakistan’s head coach Gary Kirsten emphasized the importance of the match, describing it as a peak moment in cricket.
According to International Cricket Council, Kirsten expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming game during a press conference. “Cricket doesn’t get bigger than this,” he remarked, underscoring the excitement surrounding the India-Pakistan rivalry. Despite Pakistan’s recent narrow loss to the USA in a Super Over, Kirsten stressed the importance of looking forward and focusing on the present capabilities of his team.
The coach highlighted that his team does not dwell on past defeats but is concentrated on delivering their best performance against India. “It’s a big game, India-Pakistan. There’s no need for me to motivate the team any more, they’re well motivated, they’re focused for this game,” Kirsten stated, adding that his approach is to ensure the team applies their skills effectively and maintains pressure on the opposition.
Kirsten, who has only been with the Pakistani team for 13 days, also shared his positive experiences in getting to know the players. He reiterated his focus on the immediate challenge of facing India, a team he formerly coached, and emphasized moving forward without being hindered by past results.
