Faisalabad, The German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) has partnered with the National Textile University (NTU) in Faisalabad to launch a series of programs aimed at fostering economic development and enhancing employment opportunities in Pakistan’s textile sector. A key focus of this initiative is to address inequalities and promote employment among women and persons with disabilities within the industry.
According to National Textile University, a workshop titled “Reducing Inequalities and Promoting Employment for Women and Persons with Disability in Pakistan’s Textile Industry” was hosted by GIZ on May 28, 2024. The event saw participation from various representatives of the textile industry. Ms. Nadia Shamim, Assistant Director of Student Affairs at NTU, along with members of the NTU WING Society, attended the workshop, highlighting the collaborative efforts between educational institutions and international organizations to create more inclusive work environments.
This initiative represents a significant step towards integrating marginalized groups into the workforce and leveraging the potential of Pakistan’s robust textile sector as a driver of broader economic growth and social inclusion.
