Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, in partnership with the World Poultry Science Association-Pakistan Branch (WPSA), hosted a seminar focused on the detection and prediction of emerging diseases in poultry at the City Campus.
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the seminar featured discussions led by notable experts from the poultry industry, academia, and various institutions. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus presided over the concluding session, with significant contributions from Prof Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Prof Dr. Asim Aslam, and other faculty members and students from the Department of Pathology.
Speakers at the seminar, including Dr. Qamar-un-Nisa and Prof Dr. Amir Ghafoor Bajwa, addressed a range of topics such as the role of pathology in disease diagnosis, novel strategies for controlling salmonella gallinarum, and the challenges of poultry growth amid health concerns. Discussions also extended to the use of probiotics as a strategy against antimicrobial resistance, presented by Dr. Asim Mahmood Khan, and the importance of biosecurity, mycotoxicosis prevention, and early disease indicators, highlighted by Dr. Hanif Nazir Chuhdary, Dr. Kashif Saleemi, and Dr. Ferhan Farooq.
The seminar aimed to explore advancements in disease surveillance and prediction, interdisciplinary approaches in veterinary medicine, and strategies for improving biosecurity in poultry farming to combat emerging infectious diseases.
