Karachi Calls for Overhaul in Budget Approach, Advocates Progressive Taxation

Karachi, Irfan Syed, a prominent economic expert and leader of the think tank for the Pasban Democratic Party, has advocated for a major reform in the upcoming budget, emphasizing the need for a people-friendly and progressive tax system to alleviate the burden on the middle class and foster economic growth.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Syed outlined several critical areas for government action to reform Pakistan’s fiscal landscape. He stressed the elimination of corruption within the tax collection system and the cessation of bribery across various departments as essential steps towards achieving a more equitable economic framework. Additionally, Syed highlighted the importance of simplifying business processes to empower the youth and promote self-reliance among citizens.

The statement further criticized the government’s reliance on outdated systems and called for a complete rebuild of the existing framework to restore public trust and direct budgetary focus towards critical sectors such as employment, education, health, and transportation. Syed also called for reduced interest rates to spur job creation and advocated for the allocation of budgetary resources towards industrial development rather than direct aid, aiming to guide the nation towards sustainable development and self-sufficiency.
