Jhelum, The Punjab Arts Council Rawalpindi inaugurated the first Punjab Music Competition at Government Postgraduate College Jhelum, marking a significant cultural event that brought together young musicians from across the province.
According to Punjab Arts Council, the competition, attended by dozens of contestants aged between 14 and 30, was graced by the presence of the college’s Principal, Mr. Nasir Mehmood, as the chief guest. Mr. Mehmood spoke on the profound and universal nature of music, describing it as a vital form of art that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers, expressing the spectrum of human emotions and connecting societies globally.
The event aimed to foster young musical talent in Punjab, with the Council’s Director Arts, Sajjad Hussain, emphasizing the long-standing commitment of the Punjab Arts Council to cultivate and promote arts and culture through various initiatives. This year’s competition focused on discovering and encouraging the melodic talents of Punjab’s youth.
The competition concluded with Haider Ali winning the first prize, followed by Simon and Saman Zahra securing the second and third places, respectively. The winners received cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for their outstanding performances.
