Nushki: Voter registration in Nushki is significantly below the national average, with only 52% of its estimated 2025 population registered to vote, compared to the national ratio of 54%.
According to a press release by the Free and Fair Election Network, these statistics were derived from district-wise electoral roll data released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. The 2025 population estimate was calculated using a 2.53% inter-censal annual growth rate applied to Nushki’s base census population of 207,834, resulting in an estimated 218,483 residents. The voter registration rate of 52% is based on 114,244 registered voters, comprising 64,177 males and 50,067 females.
Nushki stands 129th out of 136 districts in terms of population size and forms part of a National Assembly constituency shared with three other districts. In voter registration rate, it ranks 66th nationally and first among the 34 districts in Balochistan. However, a significant gender gap contributes to its lower-than-average registration rate. Female voters make up 43.8% of the registered electorate, with their registration rate at 48% compared to 56% for males.
The disparity is attributed to structural barriers such as restricted mobility, lower female CNIC penetration, and social constraints on women's civic participation. The press release suggests that deploying mobile NADRA units and enhancing ECP outreach through community networks are crucial to addressing this gap before upcoming general elections.
