Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui Departs for US to Meet Incarcerated Sister Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Karachi, Global Aafia Movement chairperson and neurophysician Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui left for the US to meet her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is currently incarcerated. Dr. Fowzia intends to address and counter the false rumors about Dr. Aafia’s release that have circulated on social media.

According to Aafia Movement, Dr. Fowzia emphasized the responsible behavior of the national media, which avoided spreading the misinformation about her sister’s release. She denounced the spread of such rumors, attributing them to certain elements attempting to undermine any potential progress towards her sister’s release. Dr. Fowzia called on the public to disregard these rumors and avoid participating in conspiracies.

She highlighted the significance of the next six months for the possibility of her sister’s return to Pakistan. Dr. Fowzia’s visit aims not only to meet Dr. Aafia but also to work towards her early release, underscoring that no innocent should be imprisoned. She also expressed her anticipation for a trouble-free visit to FMC Carswell prison, supported by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassy, hoping to reunite physically with her sister after 21 years.
