Kotli, For the past few days, negative propaganda has been spreading against the University of Kotli and its staff based on an anonymous letter on social media, particularly Facebook.
According to University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir, last week, the Director of Student Affairs received an anonymous letter alleging sexual harassment during the 2018-22 academic session. However, the letter did not include the victim’s identity or other details, making it impossible for the university to investigate the allegations.
The University emphasized its adherence to the Higher Education Commission’s Policy on Protection against Sexual Harassment, which mandates zero tolerance in cases of harassment. Following this policy, the university has a special high-powered committee to handle such cases and has previously imposed punishments, including dismissal.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning and research environment for students, faculty, and administrative staff. It urged anyone with a complaint related to sexual harassment to report it with their identity, assuring complete confidentiality of the report. The university also stated that no one would be allowed to impersonate the university or its staff without credible proof or identification, and legal action would be taken against those who do so.
