Lahore, In a significant step towards deepening industry-academic collaborations, the senior leadership of Tetra Pak visited Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to engage in strategic discussions and explore future partnerships.
According to Lahore University of Management Sciences, the visit on February 29 included Mr. Adolfo Orive, CEO of Tetra Pak; Mr. Awais Bin Nasim, Managing Director; and other key company directors. They were warmly received by Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood, Pro Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hussain, Rector, and Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS.
The visit began at the Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), where LUMS faculty highlighted the center’s achievements and impact on the business sector, emphasizing its initiatives in gender diversity, inclusivity, and artificial intelligence-focused programs. The Rector praised REDC’s global influence and innovation, while also acknowledging the Rausing family’s significant contributions to the university.
The discussions also covered the potential for ongoing and expanded collaborations between Tetra Pak and LUMS, with Dr. Cheema identifying REDC as a critical hub for developing local case studies across various industries. He emphasized the global positioning of LUMS alumni in leadership roles, reflecting the university’s commitment to innovative education.
The Tetra Pak delegation toured the Gad and Birgit Rausing Library and the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), where they learned about the school’s work and achievements, including collaborative projects with Tetra Pak. An impressive presentation on waste treatment and the circular economy, along with a live demonstration of a water-based formulation for plastic recycling, highlighted the visit. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Packages Ltd., drew particular interest from the Tetra Pak team, with Mr. Orive expressing enthusiasm to strengthen their research relationship with SBASSE.
