Lahore, The Department of Chemistry at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore hosted an innovative event, ChemFest 2.0/Food Gala, merging the fields of chemistry and food science. The festival featured a variety of food products developed by students from the M. Phil Food Science and Technology program and chemistry-related products by students from the BS and M. Phil Chemistry programs, displayed at interactive stalls across the venue.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the event kicked off with an opening ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. Shahid Rafique, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Islamic Studies, and Dr. Humayun Ajaz, Chairman of the Chemistry Department. Their participation underscored the university’s support for innovative academic endeavors.
The festival offered a day filled with engaging activities, including competitions with prizes for the best student products. Celebrated brands like Suleman Sweets and ODR Foods also joined the festivities, providing an opportunity for attendees to interact with industry professionals. The event culminated with performances by university societies, adding a cultural dimension to the scientific and gastronomic exploration.
The Chairman concluded the day by thanking the Ibn-e- Hayan Chemical Society and Dr. Arjumand Iqbal Durrani for their pivotal roles in organizing the event, which not only allowed students to demonstrate their creativity but also enhanced the synergy between academia and industry partners. ChemFest 2.0/Food Gala stood as a testament to UET Lahore’s commitment to providing an educational environment that encourages practical application and interdisciplinary collaboration.
