Turbat, The University of Turbat’s debating team has emerged with the third position at the Regional Round of the Pakistan Universities Debating Championship (PUDC) for the 2023-2024 session. Competing in the English debate category, the team showcased exceptional debating prowess against other universities from Balochistan, marking a significant achievement for the institution in a national competitive forum.
According to University of Turbat, the event took place on 27th February 2024 at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) in Quetta. It was part of a series organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) aimed at fostering unity, patriotism, and critical thinking among university students, encouraging them to engage in constructive and intellectually stimulating activities. A total of ten universities from the region participated in the championship.
The accolade was presented by Governor Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, who also distributed prizes, shields, and certificates to the organizers and participants, recognizing their contributions and achievements. The University of Turbat’s team, including members from the Political Science and English Departments—Mr. Mairaj, Ms. Iqra, and Ms. Javaria—demonstrated outstanding debating skills throughout the competition. They were awarded certificates, a cash prize of Rs. 60,000, and a shield for the university, celebrating their impressive performance.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, in his congratulatory message to the team and the Debating Society of the University of Turbat, highlighted that their success serves as a testament to the students’ talents and the university’s commitment to promoting extracurricular excellence alongside academic achievements. This recognition at the PUDC underscores the University of Turbat’s growing reputation in national academic and extracurricular circles, contributing positively to the educational landscape of Balochistan.
