Turbat, The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Turbat (UoT) recently hosted the “National Youth Conference on Skills Development and Entrepreneurship” in the video conference room of the university. The event, held on February 26, 2024, drew participation from students across various departments, including Management Sciences, Commerce, and Economics.
According to University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the Vice Chancellor of UoT, delivered a keynote address highlighting the significance of skill development in the current competitive market. Dr. Muhammad celebrated the university’s achievements, particularly its enhanced IT infrastructure and distinguished faculty. He urged students to become entrepreneurs and assured them of the university’s support in their endeavors to be job creators rather than job seekers.
The conference, opened by Dr. Waseem Barkat, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, focused on the vital need for skill acquisition in an increasingly saturated job market. Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Baloch, representing SMEDA, presented via video link and discussed the support mechanisms available to budding entrepreneurs.
Malik Dad, a lecturer in the Department of Management Sciences, emphasized the importance of practical knowledge and shared success stories of UoT graduates who have launched their own businesses. Mr. Muzaffar Shan, a UoT alumnus and successful entrepreneur, shared his experience and inspired attendees with his entrepreneurial journey.
A panel discussion featuring Dr. Abdul Majid Nasir, Dr. Ghulam Jan, and Mr. Muzaffar Shan, moderated by Ms. Samina Faqir, lecturer of Economics at UoT, delved into the trends and challenges in entrepreneurship and skill development. The panelists encouraged students to harness their entrepreneurial skills and seize opportunities at various levels.
The conference highlighted UoT’s commitment to equipping its students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate and succeed in the evolving economic landscape.
