Karachi Police’s Ineffectiveness Blamed for Rising Crime, Says Pasban Democratic Party Leader

Karachi, The increasing crime rate in Karachi has been attributed to the inefficiency of the local police force. Shakoor criticized the police for their outdated methods and rampant corruption, calling for the implementation of a modern policing system to combat the surge in street crime and ensure public safety.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, the city’s police are struggling to control crime, with daily reports of robberies and violent incidents against citizens. The ineffective patrolling and reliance on antiquated policing tactics have left even the main roads of Karachi unsafe, Shakoor stated. He highlighted the need for training police forces on modern lines, utilizing surveillance cameras and artificial intelligence to fight urban crime effectively.

Shakoor also pointed out the widespread corruption within the police department, from the top down, which has eroded public trust. He urged the new Sindh government to look towards the policing systems of countries like China, Singapore, and the UAE as models for reform. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of completing the long-delayed Safe City project to protect the lives and properties of Karachi’s citizens.

The call for modernization comes as Karachi, a vital economic and industrial hub, faces an alarming increase in street crime, potentially impacting the economy, deterring investments, and hindering tourism. Shakoor’s demands for the new Sindh government to take immediate action reflect the urgent need for reforms to restore safety and security in Pakistan’s largest city.
