HBL PSL 2024 Player Draft Pick Order Set with Quetta Gladiators Leading

Lahore, The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 is gearing up for its ninth edition, with the Pakistan Cricket Board finalizing the pick order for the upcoming Player Draft. Quetta Gladiators have secured the first pick, followed by Karachi Kings and Islamabad United for the second and third picks, respectively.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the order for the first round of the Platinum category picks is based on the reverse order of the standings from the previous season. This approach aims to ensure a more equitable distribution, with different franchises getting the opportunity to make the first pick in each category. Following Quetta Gladiators in the Platinum picks, Karachi Kings will make the first Diamond pick, Peshawar Zalmi the first Gold pick, Multan Sultans the first Silver pick, Islamabad United the first Emerging player pick, and Lahore Qalandars the first Supplementary pick.

The board has already opened the registration window for foreign players, anticipating a vibrant mix of talent for the event, tentatively scheduled from February 8 to March 24, 2024.

Franchises are currently in the process of submitting relegation requests for players before finalizing their retentions. This process allows teams to match a player’s base category or, if unmatched, relegate them to a lower category.

The HBL PSL 9 Draft is tentatively set to take place in mid-December, following the National T20 tournament. The draft will determine the final composition of the teams for what promises to be another exciting season of the Pakistan Super League.
