LAHORE, In a strategic move to promote women’s cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday. The agreement spans a decade and is focused on enhancing facilities and training avenues for female cricketers in Pakistan.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the MoU entails the allocation of a dedicated area within DHA’s Sports Complex located in Phase 5. This space will house an academy specifically designed for women’s cricket, providing them with advanced facilities and training opportunities. The collaboration also grants women cricketers access to the premier amenities of the flagship Sports Complex.
The ceremonial signing witnessed the presence of prominent figures from both PCB and DHA. The agreement was officially inked by Chairman PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf and Administrator DHA Lahore Brig Mirza Yasir Baig. Other distinguished attendees included PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer, Director Domestic Cricket Nadeem Khan, and Head of Women’s Cricket Tania Mallick, among others.
In his remarks, Mr. Zaka Ashraf expressed gratitude towards Brig Mirza Yasir Baig and emphasized the significance of the MoU as a progressive step in women’s cricket. He highlighted the board’s commitment, stating, “This collaboration with DHA will serve as an additional hub for women cricketers, equipping them for the international arena.”
