Karachi, In a dedicated effort to foster and promote Urdu literature, The Freedom Foundation organized a poetic gathering titled “Ek Sham Urdu Ke Naam” at DHA Suffa University. The event saw participation from renowned poets and highlighted the significance of Urdu literature in preserving and promoting culture.
According to a news release by The Freedom Foundation, Muhammad Zafeer emphasized the collective responsibility to protect and promote the Urdu language, which he described as pivotal for upholding our culture. Echoing this sentiment, Tehzeeb Hafi, a young poet from the new generation, lauded the efforts behind the event. He expressed hopes for the mushaira to gain international recognition, stressing the potential held by the youth in elevating Urdu literature. Hafi further elaborated on Urdu’s uniqueness, mentioning its composite nature derived from over 500 languages, making it possible to explore diverse topics through the medium.
Underlining the vitality of such literary events, he urged that they be continued in the future to keep the Urdu language alive and relevant. To accentuate the essence of the language and its cultural importance, efforts should be consistent in introducing the younger generation to Urdu literature.
Ayesha Chaudhry, the Strategic Consultant of Freedom, shared that mushairas are integral to our civilization and the realm of Urdu literature. She highlighted the organization’s commitment to playing an instrumental role in the development and promotion of Urdu literature.
The event was graced by the recitations of eminent poets including Ajmal Siraj, Dr. Muhammad Abbas Shaheer, Dr. Salman Sarwat, A. H. Khanzada, Dr. Qamar Abbas Rizvi, Tehzeeb Hafi, Hidayat Sayer, Naeem Sameer, Azad Hussain Azad, Uzma Ali Khan, among others. Their poetic renditions earned commendations from the audience. The gathering was further enriched by the presence of DHA Suffa University Pro VC Brigadier R Ahmed Saeed, Mohammad Iqbal Noori, Murad Ali Saani, former CPLC Chief and Additional Director Land DHA Colonel Fawad, Major (R) Fawad, Dr. Dingsha, and many other esteemed members of civil society and students. Their collective presence and appreciation underscored the success and importance of the event orchestrated by The Freedom Foundation.
