ISLAMABAD, The England cricket team will see Brydon Carse stepping in as a replacement for Reece Topley, who sustained an injury during a match against South Africa in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
According to a news release by the International Cricket Council, Topley was ruled out of the tournament after breaking his left index finger on Saturday, leading to the need for a replacement. Carse, having played 12 One Day Internationals (ODIs), has been chosen to fill the void in the squad. The substitution required the formal approval of the Event Technical Committee.
The committee overseeing such changes for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 comprises Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket and ETC Chair), Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Hemang Amin (Acting CEO – BCCI), Gaurav Saxena (General Manager – Operations, BCCI), along with independent representatives Russel Arnold and Simon Doull.
