TURBAT, The University of Turbat’s (UoT) Cricket Team claimed the championship title of the T20 Cricket Tournament during the All Balochistan Inter-University Sports Festival 2023. The climactic final took place at Ayub Stadium Quetta on October 22, where UoT triumphed over Mir Chakar Khan Rind University (MCKRU) Sibi’s cricket team by a margin of 11 runs.
According to a news release by the University of Turbat’s, the finals witnessed MCKRU taking the decision to field after winning the toss. The UoT team set a formidable target of 151 runs at the loss of just 4 wickets. This commendable score was largely attributed to Salman Naik’s contribution of 75 runs and Bahad Naeem’s 26-run inning. In the subsequent chase, MCKRU managed to score 139 runs with 8 wickets down in their allocated 20 overs. UoT’s bowling prowess was evident with Sohail Shoaib taking 3 crucial wickets, while Beezan and A. Rehman took 2 wickets apiece.
Post the victory, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor of UoT, along with Mazhar Gichki, In-charge of UoT’s Sports Directorate, faculty, and administrative staff conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to the UoT cricket team for securing the championship.
