Islamabad, 16 Oct 2023: In a recent survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, a significant majority of Pakistanis have voiced their opposition to physically disciplining children, even when they misbehave or are disrespectful.
The study presented a nationally representative sample of adult men and women from various parts of the country with the question: “Please tell me to what extent you agree or disagree with the following statements? – If children misbehave or are disrespectful, it’s okay to hit them?” The results revealed that 60% of the participants disagreed with the notion of hitting children as a corrective measure, while 40% agreed with the statement.
These findings shed light on the evolving perspectives of Pakistani citizens regarding child discipline and could potentially influence future policies and parental guidelines in the country. This report is based on a press release from Gallup Pakistan.
