Bahawalpur, May 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): A seminar organized by Character Building Society Islamia University Bahawalpur was organized at Islamia University Bahawalpur Amphitheatre College of Arts and Designing. Renowned religious scholar Ajmal Raza Qadri participated as a guest speaker in the seminar. On this occasion, Ajmal Raza Qadri said, Gave a detailed lecture on the importance of moral values of Islam in modern times. He gave a lecture to the students and attendees of Islamia University Bahawalpur on the need of the hour and the moral values of Islam. Social personality Syed Zeeshan Akhtar was the chief guest and former president of Lahore High Court AR Aurangzeb and Senior Advocate High Court Aamir Zia participated as guests of honour.

Former President Press Club Jalal Bhatti and Naseer Ahmad Nasir and ADIG Bahawalpur Kashif Abdullah, Rizwan Majeed Director IT, Dr. Azhar Hussain, Director Alumni and Madam Naveen and hundreds of students participated in the seminar. Pir Ajmal Qadri and Syed Zeeshan Akhtar praised the officials of Character Building Society for their effort to reform the young students by conducting a lecture on Islamic topics and congratulated them for conducting a successful program. Character Building Society IUB President Mohammad Furqan Abdullah hosted the event done in the end shields and certificates were given to the guests.

Conference On Transition of Traditional Universities to Online Mode Commences at International Islamic University Islamabad

Islamabad, May 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): International conference on “transition of traditional universities to online mode” organized by Faculty of Education of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) commenced here at the Faisal Masjid Campus on Wednesday, May 10th. The conference is being organized by Faculty of Education in collaboration with Iqbal International Institute of Research and Dialogue, Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Science Foundation. In the conference participants addressed the emerging issues and challenges in the distance education and e-learning. Renowned national and international academicians and researchers expressed views on the ultimate possibilities and guidelines for the maximum role of distance education and e-learning in the national development.

In this two-day conference more than 300 researchers, keynote speakers, educationists, experts are participating and it will witness around 70 papers from the presenters hailing from Austria, USA, Lebanon and Pakistan who will participate in conference physically and through online mode. The participants discussed adaptation to new technologies, best practices in online learning, blended learning, communication challenges in e- learning during covid-19, e-learning strategies, evaluation in online learning, future of online learning for universities, learning management systems, needs and challenges of online learning and research models and paradigms in online learning.

Addressing the conference, Acting President, Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani said the distance and open learning is one of the leading modes of education across the world and recent episode of pandemic has identified the need and utilization of online educational and learning globally. He shared IIUI’s response to the Covid wave telling that university through its distance learning platform continued uninterrupted education. He said the upcoming national ODL policy shall pave way for flourishing of ODL system and most of the universities shall start work on it after notification of ODL policy. He hailed the organizers of the conference for arranging a valuable conference on an important topic. He said at this is the age of online and distance mode of education and shrinking resources demand adoption of online distance learning.

Dean Faculty of education, Dr. Muhammad sarwar said that transition of the traditional universities to online mode is helpful in addressing the issues of education being faced by developing countries. He added it takes education to the door step addressing the issues of teachers with a better quality. Dr Sarwar maintained that the online education has bridged the distances between the students and the educational institutions. He elaborated that the conference aims to explore challenges and recommendations to solve the issues in the transition towards online mode.

Director General Quality Assurance Directorate, Nasir Shah said that HEC is working on ODL policy that has been prepared in consultation with the academia of Pakistan. He said soon this policy shall be in place after approval from Higher Education Commission. He stressed upon the universities to focus on transformation of technology. Dr. Asmatullah Khan, Director Directorate of Distance Learning, Dean computing IIUI discussed advancements in technology and its utilization for education. He said in the coming age ODL will be the first choice of the universities. He also apprised of the efforts of universities for promotion of its online courses.

Dr. Fauzia Ajmal, being the focal person apprised of the themes and details of the conference. She told that more than 30 universities are participating in this conference through participants and speakers. She said entire world is focusing its attention on digital transformation, innovation and the use of technology in the education sector. She added Higher Education Commission is helping universities to adopt smart classrooms, blended learning mode of education and hybrid learning systems.

Bahawalpur, May 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): The open defense of the research paper of Mohammad Iftikhar, PhD scholar of Department of Soil Science, Islamia University Bahawalpur, will be held on Thursday, 11 May 2023, at 11 am, at the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Baghdad Al-Jadeed Campus, Islamia University Bahawalpur. The PhD scholar has completed his research thesis entitled Stimulation of Salt Tolerance in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).

Through Methyl Jasmonate under the supervision of Dr. Ghulam Hasan Abbasi, Islamia University Bahawalpur. Honourable Governor Punjab and Chancellor distributed the scholarships of BEEF among the students belonging to Balochistan

Bahawalpur, May 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rahman, Governor Punjab and Chancellor distributed the scholarships of Balochistan Education Endowment Fund among the students belonging to Balochistan of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He said that Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF) is a very good initiative of Balochistan government which is playing an important role in improving the quality of education. All the scholarships are being given purely on the basis of merit to the poorest but intelligent students. These scholarships have been issued by the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Balochistan for the promotion of education.

The governor of Punjab expressed these views while addressing the ceremony of distributing scholarships of 11.35 million rupees to 48 male and female students of Balochistan studying in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The Governor of Punjab said that I am happy that the BEEF program of the Balochistan government is running on the pattern of the Punjab government. The PEEF program was started by the then Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob deserves special praise who contacted Balochistan government for these scholarships and played a key role in this work of national unity. Speaking on the occasion, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob Vice Chancellor said that to ensure transparency and merit in the BEEF scholarship scheme, BEEF has adopted a proactive approach through which scholarships are provided at the doorsteps of deserving students.

The Vice Chancellor said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is ready to educate the youth of Balochistan in the field of nursing through BEEF, which can be very beneficial in the field of public health in the entire province. Muhammad Sohail, Chief Operating Officer of BEEF, said that the entire process of disbursing these scholarships from the required data from boards and institutions, verification and finally distribution of scholarships has been carefully designed and implemented in BEEF since the inception of the program. On this occasion, Dr. Ghulam Hassan Abbasi, Director of Financial Assistants, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur said that 20,000 students of Jamia Islamia are receiving financial scholarships worth more than 90 crore rupees under various scholarship schemes from the federal and provincial governments as well as university sources.

As per the notification of HEC Punjab, teaching activities will remain suspended in all IUB campuses today on 10th May

Bahawalpur, May 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): According to the notification of Higher Education Department, Government of Punjab, teaching activities will remain suspended in all campuses of Islamia University Bahawalpur today, Wednesday 10 May 2023. However, the teaching and administrative staff will continue to be present in the offices. Spring semester 2023 exams will be held as per the announced schedule, students should continue their preparation as per the given exam schedule.

Meanwhile, according to the announcement issued by the Department of Examinations Islamia University Bahawalpur, the papers of ADP first semester session 2022-24 held today have been postponed. Similarly, the three papers of LLB three-year program annual examinations 2021 to be held today have also been postponed. The schedule of these exams will be released later.
