Cheque distribution ceremony of Abdul Fatah Memorial Trust held

Khairpur, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Cheque Distribution Ceremony of Abdul Fatah Memorial Trust Scholarship held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Institute of Business Administration. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor gave away the cheques among the 15 meritorious and needy students of Institute of Business Administration. Rs. 12,000/- were given away to each student.

Talking to the cheque recipients, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said the Institute of Business Administration is promoting quality education to the students. He said though this is the meagre amount but it is reward for students. Since on the basis of your outstanding, meritorious position, the same has been awarded. Dr. Ibupoto advised the cheque recipients to work hard with the same spirit and vigor. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that after availing job, you are morally bound to contribute as part of social responsibility to other needy and meritorious students.

Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Director Institute of Business Administration briefed the Vice Chancellor about the process of award of scholarship. He said this scholarship is being awarded to the meritorious and needy students who possess more than 3.0 CGPA recommended by Scholarship Award Committee. He advised the students to utilize the amount in a proper way. He extended his cordial thanks to the Abdul Fatah Memorial Trust on account of their philanthropist gesture.

The 19th Academic Council Meeting, NTU 

Faisalabad, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):The 19th meeting of Academic Council was held on January 18, 2023 at 11:00 am in Video Conference Room of IT Center. Rector NTU, Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain, chaired the meeting. Members of Academic Council, invitees and QEC officials were present.

The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The Chairperson welcomed all the participants and opened the house for proceedings. All the agenda items were discussed, and decisions were finalized according to the consent of respected members. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks.

DoU signed with Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Turkiye 

Islamabad, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):NUST and Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University have signed a Document of Understanding (DoU) envisioning strong bilateral cooperation that would pave the way for a myriad of collaborative activities in several academic and research domains. Pro-Rector (Academics) NUST Prof. Dr. Osman Hasan signed the DoU that would have far-reaching positive dividends for both sides.

Under this multi-pronged partnership, IZU and NUST will collaborate in multiple thematic areas through different initiatives. These joint ventures will initially focus on as diverse fields as Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Business and Management Sciences, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. The partnership will also cover joint research and publications, faculty and student mobility through Erasmus+ KA 107 International Credit Mobility Program (ICM), Capacity Building, Seminars, Conference and Symposia, etc.

Other members of the NUST delegation at the event included Director Quality Assurance (QA) and NUST International Office (NIO) Prof. Dr. Awais Mehmood Kamboh and Associate Dean Electrical Engineering (SEECS) Dr. Hasaan Khaliq Qureshi and Deputy Director International Student Support and Mobility (ISS and M) Mr. Zafar Abbas Naqvi and Assistant Director International Strategy and Partnerships (IS and P) Mr. Adeel Ahmed.

The Turkish guests thanked NUST for the hospitality and sympathy shown for the earthquake in Turkiye. Both sides pinned high hopes on the success and fruitfulness of the budding cooperation. Before the departure, the delegation also visited the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (SEECS) including labs at Research Institute for Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Studies (RIMMS) and discussed areas of joint research and faculty exchanges/mobility.

GCU Book Fair Offers 50pc discount on books

Lahore, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):A three-day book fair offering up to 50 percent discounts by 30 publishers has received an overwhelming response from students and teachers on the first two days of its opening at the Government College University Lahore. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi inaugurated the three-day Book Fair organized by the University’s Library at the Abdus Salam Hall where eminent publishers set up their stalls. GCU Chief Librarian Muhammad also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Talking to media, Vice Chancellor Prof. Zaidi said students are being given discounts on books and this time we are also providing an opportunity for the students to interact with the authors of the books. Prof. Zaidi said he encourages everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to buy books, meet authors, and expand their knowledge and understanding of the world.

LUMS Students and Recruiters Network at Annual Career Fair 2023

Lahore, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):Ranked as the top university in Pakistan by QS Graduate Employability Ranking 2022, LUMS has a strong network of 1,600 recruiting partners that help students find placements. The Career Services Office (CSO) at the University has several programmes in place for supporting students towards their career readiness, exploration, and getting the right job.

One such initiative is the annual Career Fair by CSO that aims to provide opportunities to students for gainful employment while strengthening their partnership with existing and prospective employers. LUMS hosted its milestone annual Career Fair this Saturday with participation from notable organisations across multiple industries. The Career Fair welcomed around 200 national and international reputed organisations.

The engagement between students and recruiters included activities such as extensive on-spot screening interviews, seeking information about each other and submission of resumes. Moreover, organisation representatives also counselled students regarding their career choices and job market requirements.

The Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, Dr. Adnan Zahid, talking about the importance of networking opportunities at the fair, shared, “The Career Fair is ever growing, as students get to know about multiple opportunities that different organisations offer to them such as internships, MTO programmes, and jobs.

The recruiters get to know about the skillset of our students and the diverse range of programmes that LUMS offers.” The University values its partnership with its recruiting partners that allows its students to explore life-changing prospects, and this collaboration will continue to grow in the years to come.

Students continue to engage with organisations and with the Career Services Office after the Fair as well for career exploration and recruitment, alumni mentorship, organisation visits to campus, students’ visits to company offices, and peer-to-peer guidance.

Punjab University organizes international Fisheries and Aquaculture conference 

Lahore, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Institute of Zoology in collaboration with academia, government bodies, private farming sector and industry organized the inaugural ceremony of two-day International Fisheries and Aquaculture conference 2023.

The conference theme “Pakistan and China Belt and Road advancement towards moderna aquaculture encompassing vide range themes related to CPEC long term plan ‘sustainable agriculture and poverty alleviation’, ‘Tourism coastal development and ocean economy’ besides sustainable development goals pertaining to aquaculture and fisheries sector’.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Vice Chancellor University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed, Vice Chancellor University of Baltistan Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, Director General Punjab Fisheries Board Dr Sikandar Hayat, Director of Life Science Resource Centre, Purdue University Fort Wayne, USA Prof Dr Ahmed Mustafa, Director Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute, China Dr Huaping Zhu, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Organizing Secretary Prof Dr Noor Khan, researchers from various countries, research scholars, faculty members and a large number of students were present. In his address, Prof Pasha said that Pakistan’s fisheries sector was developing according to international standards.

It is a very good opportunity for the experts to come together under a single roof to address the issues faced by the industries. More initiatives should be taken by the concerned authorities for the sake of this mega industry, serving the humanities on a high ranking scale. Prof Nasim said that the promotion of research activities along with teaching benefits the society.

He said that like food science and pharmaceuticals, the fisheries sector should also be brought into the mainstream, for which, the means of modern technologies will have to be used. Young scholars should play their roles in swiping out misconceptions for the industry through a vigorous campaign on social media.

Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan said that fisheries in Pakistan are becoming an international standard industry with a lot of career opportunities for students. Dr Sikandar Hayat said that despite the limited resources, the Government has taken many measures and is making all out efforts for the development of the fisheries industry. The government will continue to support the best research projects for the development of the sector.

Dr Mustafa said that the fish industry has become the 6th largest industry in the world, in which rapid development was also seen in Pakistan. Apart from protein, fish has many benefits. He appreciated the hospitality, tourist places and foods of Pakistan. Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi thanked the dignitaries and said that stability and economy cannot be improved in the country without proper use of local resources.

He said that the major object of the conference was to provide a platform to gather eminent scientists and researchers of national and international level in various disciplines of aquaculture and fisheries i.e. nutrition, fish feed industrialist, private farming sector and stakeholders from all over the world. He also prayed for the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria. The conference will continue on Thursday.
