Roy advances in MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings 

Dubai, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):England opener Jason Roy has made notable progress in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings after a fine century in the first match of their ongoing three-match ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series which South Africa lead 2-0.

Roy’s 91-ball 113 has helped him advance three places to 15th position in the list even as South Africa batter Rassie van der Dussen has strengthened his second position after also having scored a century in the first match. Van der Dussen has gained 29 rating points to reach a total of 795 points, 45 more than compatriot Quinton de Kock but a good 92 less than top-ranked Babar Azam’s 887.

Other batters to improve their rankings after the first two matches of the series in South Africa include Jos Buttler (up three places to 26th) of England and David Miller (up one place to 19th) and second match centurion Temba Bavuma (up 27 places to 49th) of South Africa.

In the bowling rankings, Jofra Archer has re-entered at 35th position. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is up one place to 13th and fast bowler Andre Nortje has advanced 13 places to 48th after grabbing six wickets in the two matches.

In the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings updated after the first two matches of the ongoing India-New Zealand series, Suryakumar Yadav retains his No. 1 position among batters without any change in rating points after scoring 73 runs in two matches including a match-winning 26 not out in a low-scoring match at Lucknow that levelled the series 1-1.

Washington Sundar has galloped to 104th position while New Zealand’s Finn Allen (up eight places to 19th) and Daryl Mitchell (up nine places to 29th) have also gained in the latest weekly update.

In the T20I bowling rankings, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner is in the top 10 while Michael Bracewell has moved from 58th to 37th position. India spinners Yuzvendra Chahal (up six places to 34th) and Kuldeep Yadav (up 54 places to 81st) are others to move up the rankings.

Harris and Cotton to umpire opening game at ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023

Dubai, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):Match official appointments for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 have been made.

Three match referees and 10 umpires make up a 13-woman officiating team, an all-female team for the first time ever at an ICC event.

England’s Anna Harris, making her debut at a major ICC event, has been given the honour of umpiring the opening game of the tournament in South Africa.

The 24-year-old will be joined in the middle by experienced New Zealander Kim Cotton when the host nation face Sri Lanka at Newlands on 10 February.

GS Lakshmi is the match referee, with Eloise Sheridan as TV Umpire and Suzanne Redfern fourth umpire.

At her debut tournament, Harris will also oversee Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka vs Australia and India vs Ireland.

Cotton, who umpired the record-breaking final of the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne, will also take charge of England vs India, India v Ireland and Australia vs Bangladesh.

Claire Polosak, the most experienced of the umpires selected, will be on field when England face India, West Indies and Ireland as well as Pakistan vs Ireland.

South Africa’s Lauren Agenbag, umpiring on home soil, has four group stage appointments that include the grandstand India vs Pakistan fixture on 12 February.

Jacqueline Williams of the West Indies will join Agenbag at the helm when the old rivals collide at Newlands.

Sri Lanka’s Nimali Perera and England’s Sue Redfern will be in charge when Australia begin the defence of their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title, against trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand at Boland Park in Paarl on 11 February.

Appointments for the two semi-finals and final, taking place on 23, 24 and 26 February, have not yet been made.

Islamabad, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 2 in 5 Pakistanis are indifferent to the gender of the doctor they would prefer to go to.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country was asked the following question regarding, “God forbid, if you ever had to go to a doctor, would you prefer that your doctor was a man or a woman?” In response, 27% said man, 29% said they would prefer a woman, while 44% said that it made no difference if the doctor is a man or a woman.

Question: “God forbid, if you ever had to go to a doctor, would you prefer that your doctor was a man or a woman?”
