UOL signs an agreement of collaboration with Ghurki Hospital and Shaukat Khanam Hospital 

Lahore, June 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Lahore School of Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lahore (UOL) has collaborated with Ghurki Hospital and Shaukat Khanam Hospital to promote inter-professional, work-based educational initiatives.

This collaboration will result in clinical work placements and structured site visits that will expose pharmacy students to the hospital’s multi-faceted approach to treating patients, preparing them to tackle obstacles and introducing them to the newest developments in clinical pharmacy. The agreement will also allow these organizations to do.

ILSA INTERACTIVE hires ten UOL students

Lahore, June 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):ILSA INTERACTIVE, a software house based in Lahore and Riyadh, conducted two recruitment drives. An overwhelming number of students from both departments participated, and the exceptional candidates were shortlisted for further evaluation. A total of 10 UOL students from Computer Science and Software Engineering Departments were hired during the drives.

GameTrain holds an awareness, registration campaign for the IT students 

Lahore, June 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):For the students of IT, GameTrain, Pakistan’s best IT accelerator and incubator, held an awareness and registration campaign for their free boot camp with industry-tailored programs, career mentorship, and placement guidance.

GameTrain was astounded by the response of Computer Science (CS) and Software Engineering (SE) students and expressed their gratitude and admiration via email. Over 100 UOL students have signed up for their program, particularly those who have expressed interest in the free MERN Boot Camp, which is being held in partnership with FRAG Games, P@SHA, and PSEB. GameTrain intends to strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global gaming space by offering a forum for emerging intellectual capital and polishing the talent pool.

UOL partakes in COMSTECH’s International Workshop and Exhibition 

Lahore, June 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Lahore (UOL) participated in COMSTECH’s international workshop and exhibition on “Research and Commercialization: Challenges and Opportunities,” which took place in Islamabad on June 14 and 15, 2022.

The exhibitors from 30+ countries attended the event to bring innovation, issues, and solutions under one roof. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf (Rector, UOL) and Dr. Maryam Iqbal Kiani (Director CSCL, EDC), the departments of Technology, IMBB, Electrical Engineering, and Chemistry from the UOL showcased their innovations within their relevant fields of research, which led to the commercialization of those innovative solutions to a global audience. The event provided attendees with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge, develop useful networks, project a positive image and get futuristic research perspectives.

NUMS Department of Public Health organized a workshop for BSPH Students on “Monkeypox: Transmission and Prevention”

Rawalpindi, June 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):NUMS Department of Public Health organized a workshop for BSPH students on Monkey pox Transmission and Prevention, held at National University of Medical Sciences, PWD campus on Wednesday, 8th June at 1100 Hrs.

Monkey pox is a viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted to humans from animals) with symptoms similar to those seen in the past in smallpox patients, although it is clinically less severe. With the eradication of smallpox in 1980 and subsequent cessation of smallpox vaccination, monkeypox has emerged as the most important orthopoxvirus for Public Health. Monkey pox primarily occurs in central and west Africa, often in proximity to tropical rainforests and has been increasingly appearing in urban areas. Animal hosts include a range of rodents and non-human primates. Monkey pox is a disease of global Public Health importance, as it not only affects countries in west and central Africa, but the rest of the world.

The ceremony was moderated by Dr Hina Shan (Assistant Professor Public Health Department) and began with the recitation of Holy Quran. The workshop began with a pre-session survey to determine the knowledge of the participants regarding the subject. Dr Raima Asif (Assistant Professor Public Health) discussed basic Epidemiology of Monkey pox.

Dr Hina Shan gave presentation on Ecology and one health, Clinical diagnosis and surveillance and Laboratory investigation and case management. Dr Tamkeen Jaffry (Associate Professor Public Health) deliberated infection prevention and control and outbreak management of the monkey pox among the students. The workshop was concluded by a post-session survey to get reflections on the usefulness of the workshop and to understand what went well and what needs improvement for future workshops of this kind.

The Head of Department Public Health Prof. Dr Uzma Hassan in her concluding remarks stressed on the importance of workshop for students as it provides insight into diverse topics and motivate students to explore new areas of interest. It is a great way to teach hands-on skills as it gives students an opportunity to try out new methods and explore new dimension of learning.

At the end, HoD distributed the Certificates among the facilitators and E-Certificates were given to the students. The HoD congratulated and appreciated her team of Department of Public Health; Dr Tamkeen Jaffry, Dr Hina Shan, Dr Raima Asif and Ms. Rubab Zulfiqar on their hard work and commendable job. Prof. Dr Uzma Hassan also congratulated and appreciated all the participants for their active participation and engagement in the workshop.

Last year, National Idea Bank received almost 2,100 entries throughout Pakistan. 18 ideas were selected from each city that went to the provincial level competition. Each province sent 18 ideas to the national level, and 18 winners were selected at the national level, getting around PKR 2.5 million in cash prizes. National and Provincial winners were later on invited to become part of ASPIRE Pakistan Bootcamp program and select startups were selected for our National Startup Showcase program, where 11 startups presented to over 100 interested investors and mentors.
