Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invites suggestions on LB Polls 

Karachi, April 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has invited Party ticket holders, CEC members and divisional Presidents of Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab to submit their suggestions regarding forthcoming LB polls in these provinces to the Party secretariat in Islamabad.

A statement issued today by the Party’s Media office in Islamabad said that Party tickets in LB polls are awarded by provincial party chapters and there is no change in the policy. The provincial chapters will continue to award party tickets and a formal communication has also been addressed to the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard.

However, for a broader and deeper engagement of Party cadres the Chairman has decided to also invite ticket holders of National and Provincial Assemblies, CEC members and divisional presidents of the province to submit their suggestions in respect of various aspects of polls to the Party’s central secretariat in Islamabad, it said.

The process of LB polls in Balochistan has already commenced. The schedule for first phases of LB polls in 17 districts in Punjab on May 29 has already been announced. Likewise, the schedule for the first phase of LB polls in four divisions of Sukkur, Larkana, Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas of Sindh has also been announced.

Elections of both phases of LB polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have recently been completed. The suggestions addressed to the Chairman will be sent to the Secretary General Nayyer Hussain Bukhari in the Party Secretariat Street 85, G-6/4, Islamabad, it said.

Dairy industry professionals trained at UVAS 

Lahore, April 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L and DD) organised a three days hands-on learning on ‘Traceability of milk and value added Dairy Products Through the Dairy Value Chain’ and five days training programme on “Food Safety and Halal Management System” under the project ‘Capacity Building of Dairy Farmers and Industry Stakeholders on Milk Value Chain’ here at City Campus.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates among the both trainings participants and resource persons while Additional Director General Punjab Food Authority Ms Saba Adil, Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique, Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 35 participants/professionals of trainings from public and private sector and dairy industries were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that UVAS has always been well connected with dairy and food industries. He said UVAS Dairy Technology Department team imparting latest knowledge and skills for the capacity building of the dairy professionals. Ms Saba Adil said such trainings are the best source of knowledge sharing and experience with each-others.

Various aspects were discussed during the trainings regarding emergence of food traceability, challenges in food traceability, traceability in dairy industry, market based sentiments, consumer perspective, regulation of dairy products, food fraud, food safety management, leadership commitment, effective operation, process approaches and risk based thinking etc.

Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri grieved over the death of Begum Bilquis Edhi 

Lahore, April 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):MQI leader Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has expressed his strong sense of grief and sorrow on the passing of Ms. Bilquis Edhi, the chairperson of Edhi Foundation and the wife of Abdul Sattar Edhi. In his condolence message to Faisal Edhi, the son of the deceased, he said that Begum Bilquis continued the mission of service to humanity after the death of her illustrious husband. She had great love for the underprivileged sections of society and has left behind a rich legacy of public service.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in peace and give the bereaved family the courage and patience to bear her loss. He said that society is poorer today as a result of her death. He further said that we should take a leaf from her book and serve the humanity in need without any discrimination.

PAT to challenge the decision to acquit Capt. (r) Usman in LHC 

Lahore, April 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that they will challenge the anti-terrorism court’s decision to acquit Capt. (r) Usman, the central character in the Model town tragedy case. He said that the instructions have been issued to the legal team in this regard. He said that Capt. (r) Usman was the head of the civil administration as DC Lahore and that he was also present at the scene of crime on the tragic day. He said the dialogue was conducted with him with regards to removal of the barrier. He said that all these facts prove that he was fully involved with the Model Town tragedy in every way.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur further said that justice delayed is justice denied. He said that it is our question for the honourable courts in all humility as to why the martyrs of Model Town tragedy have not been given justice despite the passage of seven years. He said that we are not being given the right to fair investigation. He said that the affected parties have been struggling for right of an impartial investigation but to no avail.

PAT Secretary General said that the decision to constitute a neutral JIT was taken on the floor of the Supreme Court and police officer, AD Khawaja, was made head of the team. He said when the investigation became complete, stay order was given in the matter of the JIT, which has been effective for the past two years. He said that orphan children are looking toward the court for justice, asking as to who will provide them their basic right?

National Athletics Training Camp 

Lahore, April 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is presently organizing a 90 days Athletics training camp at the PSB Coaching Centre, Lahore. Sixty (60) National athletes (male) and coaches from all affiliated Units of AFP are attending the training camp which has been organized to prepare national Athletes for the forthcoming 14th South Asian Games. All participants are very appreciative of the newly renovated hostel facility and the nutritionally balanced diet that is being served to them. Rana Nasrullah Director PSB is the camp commandant and he is supervising athlete training activities being implemented by the camp coaches.

Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, President AFP who is also Vice President Asian Athletics Association and Chairman South Asian Athletics Federation visited the camp facility on 14.04.2022 and was apprized about different aspects of this preparatory Athletics camp. He appreciated the newly renovated facilities and balanced diet being served to the participants. He advised the athletes and coaches to adopt training techniques based upon scientific research, as this method will produce the desired results.

President AFP cautioned the athletes and coaches to avoid the use of performance enhancing drugs which is unlawful and punishable under AFP and WADA laws. He stated that these illegal drugs are detrimental for human health and cause irreversible damage to athletes who use them. It is unfortunate that recently athletes from other national Federations were caught and banned by WADA for doping. President AFP stated that AFP is only asking athletes to work hard and bring discipline into individual training regimes, we do not ask you to break records overnight and give optimum performances.

AFP is a disciplined organization that follows and implements the Law, it has zero tolerance for cheats and transgressors and will punish any violators to the fullest extent of the Law. It was also decided that National trials for all Athletics events will be held on 26-27 April 2022 at Punjab Stadium, Lahore. The purpose of trails is the selection of athletes for International Athletics Competition (2nd Imam Reza Cup Tournament) which is scheduled from 29-30 May 2022 at Mashhad, Iran.

Brigadier Mr. Saqib Ahmed visits UoT’s Panjgur Campus 

Turbat, April 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Sector Commander of FC HQs Panjgur, Brigadier Mr. Saqib Ahmed along with Mr. Abdul Razzak Sasoli, Deputy Commissioner, District Panjgur visited UoT’s Panjgur Campus on 12th April 2022. The visitors were briefed about the progress of the campus by Aftab Aslam Baloch, Asst. Registrar/Administrator UoT’s Panjgur Campus.

Faculty members, administrative staff, and students were also present on the occasion. During an interactive session with faculty and students, Brigadier advised the students to pay their whole attention to seeking education and improving their technical skills to compete on national and international fronts. He added that it is an era of seeking excellence in every field of life.

He emphasized IT and economy-based education. He expressed his pleasure that under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the committed faculty and administration of the campus have laid down the foundation of a very successful institute of higher education in the region. He assured his complete support for the further progress of the University Campus.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy commissioner highlighted development projects in the field of education initiated for the prosperity of the people of District Panjgur and neighbouring areas, adding that a piece of land measuring 2000 acres has been allotted for the future University of Makuran at Panjgur. Deputy Commissioner announced an amount of Rs. 01 million for the books of the Campus Library. He also announced semester Fee-ships for 25 deserving students of UoT’s Panjgur Campus. Mr. Aftab Aslam Baloch thanked the distinguished guests for their visit and support for the further development of the campus.
